Hello all,
Is there any post on this forum which allows those who are intending to use mech mods to calculate the amps of their battery of choice, I've seen a post on the ecig forum which lists almost most of the batteries out there, the continuos amp discharge, voltage, and thus the minimum safe coil ohm setup.
Might post link but if we have it here at aaec then brill.

I think this should be on all forums safety is very very important we don't want e-cigs getting banned due to the safety aspect the safer we keep this hobby the longer we can keep it that's my thought anyway

It's cool Karma I've read all the thread and the guys know what they are talking about I'm going to delete the chart so that vapors read the whole thread rather then just look at the chart .

I'd leave the chart there ... If people take the time to at least check they are using the right batteries for sub ohming then that has to be preferable to them doing no research at all .... You will always get idiots who will just watch youtube and jump straight in ....
There is also a very good sub ohming section on UK vapers if people are interested in researching further

I google the battery specs then check the ohms and use an ohms calculator to see what's what.

Like purple1234 I have just started using mechanical mods and have spent hours researching. The problem is that there are many of those charts out there and you'll see some contradictions. www.tasteyourjuice.com/wordpress/battery-information/docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?pli=1&key=0AhCCsGn6F0QLdDJxNzV2c0dSc01mUkl6RXNnM2o2R1E&f=true&noheader=true&gid=0Two that I see are the battery type differs between charts, and the Panasonic NCR18650B has a rating of 2C safe @ 0.75ohm on one, and 1.1C safe @ 1.5ohm on the other. There is probably more especially if you compare more charts. As far a I have read, and the link purple1234 posted was one of many Iv'e come across, these batteries, especially the high drain ones like Sony and Samsung are producing now, were intended for use in packs in power tools and the like, not in PV's. Because of that they rarely have any info on the battery itself, I have a Panasonic with no technical info on it at all, not even the mah rating let alone the C rating or internal resistance. AW and Efest have the mah but that's all. I read they are re-wrapped batteries from other manufactures. Manufacturers data sheets for some batteries can be hard to come by. For me it's still a case of doing the research, sifting the info and deciding for yourself what risk you're prepared to take, because whatever, there is a risk involved Personally I don't see the need to sub ohm, let alone sub 0.5ohm (although I can see why some to like the fun of vaping really low ohm) so a 10amp battery with the advantage of a higher mah suits my needs safely. I would only use IMR or hybrid batteries from a reputable manufacturer, and source them from a trusted vendor. My first mechanical was a 14xxx mod, I use IMR batteries without a kick or fuse as they are not available in that size. I have a vv/vw mod to check the resistance. I also wouldn't use a mechanical mod unless I understood Ohm's law, even if it's only to the extent of studying the results of various volts/resistance put in a calculator, www.onlineconversion.com/ohms_law.htm and possessed a multimeter, this can also be used to check the resistance, shorts and voltage, I change batteries at 3.6v. My 18xxx mod is used with and without a kick, I don't use a fuse. Don't treat any of the above as gospel (in fact I never assume anything I read is coming from an expert) it's just part of another thread that someone may stumble on while scouring the net for info. None of it is a recommendation.

There might be some incorrect numbers on that chart. For example, I just found out the AW 18650 1,600 is 16 amps. Coz I just talked about it on ECF...

Good links guys By the way I've absolutely no intention of sub ohming, but I thought ( and correct me if I'm wrong) for those of us who use regular coils 1.6-2.0 ohms at least we know that we should be well within the batteries capabilities .
