Talking about a possible ban in public places in Wales. They are saying they think it will be a gateway into smoking real cigarettes!!
Where do the people in power get their info from to make these decisions. If someone wants to start smoking they will, people have been starting as teenagers for years. Personally I don't anyone in their right mind would turn to smoking and the horrible taste after vaping some of the lush juices available.

What about it being a GATEWAY OUT OF SMOKING? Their assumptions are probably based on some non-scientific cr*p and not a proper study.

Why can't non smokers understand what is going on? Vaping is growing at an enormous rate because smokers want to GIVE UP the ciggie. Young people who want to smoke will smoke ( because of peer pressure or whatever ) after all we all did didn't we?. If young people are taking up vaping, its because the message of how bad smoking real ciggies are for them, has got through. Those young people taking to vaping, would undoubtedly have taken up the real thing. I would hope that under age children don't find it too easy to get their hands on a vaping kit but if determined, they would get their hands on the dreaded ciggies anyway, if the electronic version hadn't been invented.

Have to comment here!
smoking(real tobacco) at work or in most public places was banned along time ago - employers seem to feel they pay you to work not smoke for some strange reason!
e-cigs allowed a lot of "arsey" folk to suddenly take the mickey in the above places
Now society is cracking down......
trouble is, they intend to be draconian....
.............is not this partially our fault?
I would love a media slot on national TV where someone actually asks the following.....
Is "real" tobacco safer than e-cigs?
On what scientific evidence are these experts offering their experience?
If not safer why is real tobacco still legal? If it stays legal leave e-cigs alone!
If e-cigs are so bad what alternative is there? (patches etc are hopeless)
Could anti e-cig campaigners be honest about who has lobbied them and how much they stand to gain financially if e-cigs are banned?
Could the polititions inform us of how much they are being pressured/bribed/threatened by tobacco firms, pharma firms, etc?
Please feel free to add to the above!

Its all part of the propaganda war - even if the bid is unsuccessful it they have still managed to get millions of people to hear the negative argument put in the most simplistic terms.
Sadly a significant number of people will be scared off trying them. This is about them trying to slow the spread whilst infecting the public consciousness with negative notions. It is a system that history shows us works well when you intend to subjugate a group in society.
That's why we are seeing so many nonsense stories recently, guilt by association is a great way to fling some mud. We might find the American Sheriffs ideas about taking tobacco out so that you can replace it with drugs laughable - the uninitiated will store that as a vague memory and file us with the undesirables. If sound bites can win you an election, they are a powerful way to control public opinion.
In the political world perceptions trump logic and reason.
I have very high hopes that local stop smoking initiatives may be our saviours - they are starting to open their eyes to the possibilities of ecigs. The ASH Scotland conference tomorrow could well be a big moment for us all.

So true markmI got my GP telling me two pieces of nonsense yesterday 1) that there was more nicotine in e-cigs than cigarettes (if this were true i'd have been dead years ago from nic poisoning LOL) 2) that e-cigs were supposed to get me off nicotine and thus off cigs. Only person I respect I've heard this from is my GP. I just told her I'd done a lot of research and knew more about e-cigs than she did. She admitted I did GP argument flattened I told her I'd only just lost the craving for tobacco after 2.5 years. It took me that long!!!. Hence NRT doesn't work as NRT is supposed to get you off tobacco in 3 months (just think how stupid that is in the light of my experience). Plus I'd not had a chest infection in 2.5 years. Everyone says my skin is better and overall health and any reduction in Nic content has to be done very slowly due to risk of psych unit admissions if at all. Last time I was in Edinburgh I got told by a cafe worker that e-cigs were more dangerous than analogs. I'm like 'whatever'. He said 'google it' with a look of sincerity in his eyes. I just vaped at him Only the other week a former friend warned me of what 'nicotine was doing to my insides' - utter tosh!!! We are no longer friends for that comment and various others that week that were highly inappropriate Nuff said

BBC FB page.... www.facebook.com/bbcbreakfast?fref=ts there is always going to be argument it will encourage smoking ,well in that case obesity is on the rise major issue health etc,so why not stop it all, maybe someone should really point out a new Stinkie smoker will smoke if they want to Ecigs wont stop that route,we all know its safer or we wouldnt do it,also point out that many of the ingredients are in use 24/7 in what you eat or use, plus they best not recommend 5 or 7 a day and should eat more veg, that has nic content to ,so your encouraging nic habit lol

I wish they'd stop saying on te news that Wales is considering banning them "in public places" when it is in "enclosed public places", the same as cigarettes. Their terminology is making it sound like we won't re me able to vape on the street, which makes it sound like they are even more dangerous than smoking cancer sticks!

I've just emailed my MP to offer my services. One of the arguments is that ecigs are untested. Well, here we have a large group who have been testing them for varying periods of time.

I always call BS when I hear the argument that ecigs glamourise smoking and encourage children to start smoking, nearly threw my svd at the welsh health minister on itv news, but im starting to thing its a double edged sword.
The more shops I see opening, the more people I see vaping and theyre not all adults. There was a big group of teenages I'd bet were about 14 in the liberty flights shop in Liverpool at the weekend. I doubt at that age theyre trying to get off the stinkies. Are ecigs really becoming a new trend for them?
Any responsible shop shouldn't be selling to children. Kids with ego's is gonna ruin it for everyone

ASH Wales have just tweeted "We agree that there is not the evidence to support a ban as our consultation response will show." Must have seen the polls !
