For me I just happened onto vaping.I had never really considered giving up smoking , talking to others , I seemed to be the only one that actually enjoyed smoking but that all changed in May of this year. I work on building sites ( mostly ) as a plumber and one site that I'd worked on in Brighton had had a visit by the " UK ECig Store" a few days before I got to the site, but all the posters were still in the tea room, this is what planted the seed. Then I was walking through my local Mall and there was a VIP stand, so I thought I would try a few juices. This experience left me feeling a bit weird in a few ways, first it was odd vaping in the middle of somewhere where smoking was obviously banned , next was the feeling of not needing a fag for some hours afterwards ( yes, I had tried quite a few juices ), there was also my son who I didn't want to see me smoking ( he's 5 ) and it all seemed to make a lot of sense. So the next thing was to find out as much as I could about E-cigs , I went on every forum, trolled Youtube and blogs and found out all I needed to know to start. After work one evening I went to a reasonably local shop and bought a Vision spinner kit with a couple of juices and haven't had a stinky since.NO-ONE is more surprised than I am, as I said, I had no real intention of giving up the stinkies and I gave up just like that.
I never really spent to much on stinkies for the past 10 years as I went to Belgium and got cheap tobacco there and filters and papers didn't cost that much either. So far I've bought my initial kit some more EVOD tanks a ProTank II some pre-made coils ( I have made some of my own with some kanthal that I was gifted from a shop and couldn't believe that it made a marked difference , wick flavour was strong to me, whereas cotton doesn't ) and a lot of juices to try, but it's all good.I'm really enjoying the experience and feeling and knowing that I feel better in myself. One other thing I've noticed is that when I vape I seem to feel more relaxed than when I smoked, especially when I'm at home. My wife , son and I went out for a meal yesterday and the windows were open behind us and even my wife ( who has never smoked ) noticed straight away the smokers smell outside and commented on how she had the pleasure of not smelling that for the past five and a half weeks.
It just goes to show that given the right circumstances that even the most hardened of smokers can give up and go vaping at the drop of a hat and long may it continue and hope the powers that be realise and wake up and realise what a benefit to everyones health ECigs are.

I was a very young smoker - preteen - and smoked heavily until last year in January. The date I switched to ecigs is very important to me. I tried a friends nicolite and that was it at 19:15 on the day. I remembered I joined an ecig forum yonks ago but didn't participate and found my username etc. Been an enormous help. Went from a size 6/8 to a 10/12 in all the right places and feel healthier. Food tastes and smells better but I find vaping sweet flavours curbs my appetite somewhat. I had no intention of giving up cigarettes, it just happened. I'm on my 2nd year smoke free

Smoked for 40 years (roll-ups) around 25/30 a day, have not touched a fag since my first vape in February, don't think i will ever smoke again. Hi, I smoked for 50 years, increasing my ciggies to 20 a day for the last 10yrs at least, I stopped smoking the real thing on 15th March, and not had one since, and I don't even fancy one at all, ( I hope it last) I know I am lucky to have found this vaping lark I too smoked for 40 years. Vaping is the only thing that has worked. It will be a year at the end of next month since I stopped smoking. Guys, these are all immense achievements... congrats all round!

I started smoking at 12 yr old. Just before I stopped smoking I was going through 20 to 30 Stirling red/day. Oct 2012, 4 DVT's changed all that for good. I quit, but was climbing the walls just chewing the gum stuff... I then came across vaping and have never looked back.

Smoked heavy for 45 years. 20-40 roll-ups a day. Never intended to give up entirely. I liked smoking but always wanted to cut down and have some control. Dabbled with e-cigs way back; 08? but did not find the TW e-cigs etc available then enough of a substitute.
About three months ago got seriously worried about my breathing and bought a load of new kit/juices. Still did not have any hope of giving up entirely but one morning (6.30am 25th June actually) woke up and knew I did not need to smoke anymore.

I was a 20-40 a day smoker for 30 years my father smoked until my mother forced him to give up when my baby sister was 2 as she was born with a heart issue she is perfectly fine now, my brother smoked and he got me into smoking to look cool and be accepted
I have tried everything to quit inc patches sprays lose gears tablets acupuncture and cigalikes nothing worked picked up a Ego battery and clearo from local garage after hubby told me a friend at work recommended them and fruit flavoured juice one Saturday I had run out of cigarettes and couldn't get to shops 2 weeks after I purchased it I charged it up used it in the morning and have never smoked since not one puff that was 5 months ago over past few weeks while I've not been around I've gone from max strength to low strength back to max back to 12 mg I vary it depending on pain levels did think about trying to give up even posted saying I was trying to give up but realised I enjoy it to much. And it does help when I am in a lot of pain like smoking did I think it's more because it gives you something else to do but also nicotine helps I tend to need a higher strength if in a lot of pain I seem to crave it most of the time I manage on 12 but during bad days I go up to 18mg it works for me. In chest infection with cold this year not even much of a cough,

Added to the poll. The result so far is what I would have expected. If I were a non smoker I'm not sure I would be thinking, let me go out and buy a fiddly thing and squirt juice into it, and puff away on it. Way too much like hard work, but as an ex smoker it's well worth the effort.

Smoked for just over thirty years 25-50 roll ups a day saw an article in 2009 about ecigs but didn't go any further at that time. Just over two years ago a friend died from lung cancer only couple of years older then me, motivated me to look for ways to quit saw an advert somewhere on the net for jacvapour went to their website ordered a kit for myself and the wife intending to use it till iI found a realistic way of quitting and never stopped vaping and never had tobacco again same for the wife. I liked for want of a better term the smoking experience but never liked the negative impact my smoking on had on others around me and vaping was a perfect fit.
