I'd been smoking for years (can't remember how many). I'd tried the patches (failed!), NHS support group (failed!), cold turkey (failed!), even once paid £200 for hypnotherapy (failed!), when a friend said about vaping I bought a cheap starter kit with trepidation waiting for another fail ... waited ... waited ... still waiting after over a year

I've probably (ok most definitely) spent more on vaping than the patches & hypnotherapy but who cares .. this sh!t works !!

I was listening to the radio the other about a hospital that have a cabinet full of vaping stuff and other aids so that when smokers go in while they can't smoke inside, they are provided with all the nicotine replacement stuff available (including patches, sprays etc) the woman said that they allow their patience as much nicotine as they want - they just can't smoke it ?

I smoked for 28 years and quit straight away when I got into vaping and I have a very addictive personality so if I can do it anyone can

I smoked for 50 years, building up to 20 plus a day, I started vaping roughly 15 months a go, and I haven't smoked or wanted to smoke since, I feel very proud of myself as I never thought vaping would work for me...I have gone from 24mg to 18mg now I am on 12mg.

 wow - that's a step ahead - let's hope that many more hospitals follow that

Smoked for about 57 years, gave up in Dec 2013 for about 7 months, then due to 'reasons' took up smoking again, but have managed to cut it down to about 3-4 ciggies a day, after increased spending on shiny new mods, tanks and juices.
It's a darn sight harder to quit totally the 2nd time around, but then I am just a weak willed male.

thought it's time to give this thread a little bump for all our new members - so far I have only met 1 person, who did not smoke before he started vaping and he only started vaping as he works for a vaping company - we met him in our hotel when we went to the vape fest - needless to say he vapes 0 nicotine

See as adults I don't see the problem about vaping even if you didn't smoke. It is very traditional to smoke flavoured non tobacco shisha pipes in the middle east, there are even cafes. My friend was also thinking about it as a hunger deterrent; instead of going to by sweets, vape sweets and see if it supresses it.
The whole kid thing...I mean jeese...when hooch and the whole alcho-pop thing happened people didn't just serve kids! And Christ it isn't like you see 13 yr old piling out of tests with becks blue (alcohol free). It is still the job of the adult in the situation to say 'no' be it the shop keep or the parent or guardian...it's not like there is an under 18's only vape shop

Voted way back, but I see it's been a while since this thread was on the front page. Interesting, although not surprising that the result is still 100% ex or current smokers. The truth will out eventually as they say.

I'd been smoking almost 20 years. Got up to 20 a day by the time I was 18. Since I took up vaping a year ago next week, I haven't had a cigarette, or wanted one since.

Considering I'm usually quite hard pushed to change my habits when it comes to most things, I think this is a major achievement which I'm very happy with.

I was a smoker for over 40yrs, got a starter kit and never had another ciggie since that day! Both my sons were smokers and both quit with e-cigs so now we are a NO SMOKING family!!
