Added to the poll aswell. 17 years of 30ish a day and havent smoked since my first kit arrived which was not so long ago but it's been surprisingly easy.
None of the other popular methods worked for me before.

27 years I smoked for, tried every once in a while to give up. Golden virginia was my thing. 20-25 a day by the end. I first tried ecigs when I was working in New York in 2010, a green smoke cigalike set that cost about £60!!!! That didn't last long, dry hits battery problems, utter pants. Then about two years ago I was getting the usual you should really give up squeeze from the wife and I thought I might try ecigs again for a bit, keep the wife happy then you know, lose interest and smoke my rollies again. I found this forum and got loads of great advice. My first set up was a vamo v1 with two vivi novas. I had a smoke at mid day on the 2nd of jan putting my kit together when it arrived and then never touched a cigarette again. It really was that simple. Two years later and I'm excitedly awaiting my ipv mini to go with my naughtys, I've got a whole cupboard full of nic, juice, evics vamo's mods tubes wires wicks and all sorts of crap I'll never use. However, I know I'll never smoke cigarettes again, and that to me is still a revelation every single day. I'm in no hurry to quit vaping. I'm a happy rabbit with normal blood pressure and rarely a cold or a cough. I lost both my parents to smoking/drinking related illnesses, both in thier 60's. Now I don't do either. With a bit of luck I might make my 70s! Chris

for our new members - would be nice if you would vote Done it Clivia . I smoked for about 45 years and at the end was on 25-30 rollies a day. Tried to give up with the patches when diagnosed with COPD (Pulmonary Fibrosis) But I still had the odd rollie. But I got a cheap starter kit off Ebay and I've never smoked since.

Smoked since early teens, not good with dates/ages, but about 40 years. Attempted to stop several times during that period. Nine months, roughly, was my record, but my dog died, and back to the smokes I went. Tried cig-a-likes ages ago but they were pants. Last year my step daughter got a fitness bug and started vaping an ego type, so I tried that. Much better than the cig-a-like, so I bought myself and OH a kit each. Neither of us have touched tobacco since. Moved on to bigger and better kit now, rebuilding and wicking, mixing etc. Almost saved a fortune, I don't crave a cigarette anymore, I don't stink, my health and breathing is vastly improved, what a brilliant thing technology is. From cig-a-likes to sub-ohming in no time! Only addiction now is shinyitis However, this could all go wrong for the producers of kit and juice. If the govt. ban/restrict/tax it, it will encourage youngsters to vape. Like cigarettes for most people, it was only for adults, so I wanted to look "grown-up" pre-teens. Then they will be further restricted. If the govt. do nothing about vaping, we will all pass on, with no new vapers taking up the market. It seems to me that the producers have to make hay while the sun shines.

I was a very heavy smoker, 3 50gram packs of Golden Virginia a week, I'm so glad that I discovered E-cigs.
I'm infuriated with the anti brigade that suggest that children will be lured into e-cigs as opposed to not smoking.......it really winds me up...... just reaching for my blood pressure tabs.
Only a fool could not see the benefits that e-cigs bring to us ex smokers.

We've just had new rules put in place at work that don't really effect me but one of the managers has been Cig free for months and because they've banned E-cigs, we have to go off premises to Vape, he has started smoking again. Touch wood It's not effected me as I still went off premises to vape even when it was pouring down just to get away from the computer for 5-10 minutes and de-stress as I used to do when smoking.

This is what REALLY annoys me watsits. You have taken steps to give up the cancer sticks, but are still a pariah to the masses! Makes my blood boil

Started smoking at 15 embassy number 1s or embassy gold, then when 19 had access to "blue liners" am sure a few know what they are, so went up to 40-50 a day carried on till I was 29 and quit. Started again at 35 but could only smoke Richmond super kings menthol (or ladyboys as my mates called em). Then packed up again when I hit 40, got the craving back and it was bad then found a garage ecig, horrible bloody thing but did help . Been smoke free about 3-4 yrs, I have had the odd one but it's the ones you don't have that count
