Hope this help : Most of vapers start like noobs and now they are pro. Same with Linux. If you have the power to quit smoking stinkies you can easy migrate from Windows to Linux. After you install a fresh windows on your hard drive you need to install also drivers especially in XP ,using w7 you will install less drivers & using linux most of the time you dont have to install any driver (how long is not a propietary driver) ....You can install Linux alongside windows but windows alongside linux nope (windows want all hard drive only for him) .i meant you can have installed on your hard drive windows and linux without any problem.Using linux you can see windows partition and what you have installed there but using windows you cant see linux partition ,i meant you can copy any text ,photos or anything you want from windows to transfer on linux partition without problems.Windows work only if is installed on your internal hard drive ,linux work also from CD/DVD/external hard drive/memory stick. Using ''wine'' you can install windows programs inside of linux.....Like normal user you will not feel the difference surfing the internet ,watching videos ,..photos ,music etc between windows and linux. Right now im using Elementary OS in a old laptop (lenovo N100) installed on a external HDD with 1.5Gb Ram memory and i use only around 300Mb Ram with my browser open and listening music in the same time.

just thinking ...why most of the people like to use microsoft windows OS with a fake serial number ???......is not more easy to use free Linux ??? Software piracy IS illegal, even if cloning mods/atties isn't.

Win7 is a whole lot better than XP, but you'll eventually HAVE to update your OS as that's just progress and applies to phones, TV's etc as well. Back up everything you need to keep Top tip for a legit copy.. you can buy an OM copy of windows from most major PC suppliers (eg overclockers.co.uk) when you buy ANY hardware. It doesn't HAVE to be a full PC, even just a basic mouse.

Thanks for the advice for backing up, i don't really want advice though on the rights or wrongs of legit vs pirated software, i bought a new PC with Win7 pre-installed, where's the problem with that? While you're on the subject of legit copies of an O.S. there are those that say Bill Gates stole the building blocks for his O.S. from Gary Kindall's CP/M, could he have been the first software pirate? I'm sure Mr. Gates appreciates your concern.

Grrrrrrrrr, not only have I now got to buy a new OS thanks to microsoft, pay the engineer to install it + put in a new dvd recorder as that's also gone kaput, but now my flippin washing machine has just gone up the spout with a load of wet washing stuck inside it - more expense It never rains but it pours doesn't it

Look for some free software called mozbackup, will save your whole profile for Firefox including bookmarks, passes etc. Once backed up this can be used on a fresh install of firefox to restore it all. all the browser have an option to save bookmark as html file which can you import back after a fresh install of OS.... Aye if you only want bookmarks backed up, mozbackup clones your whole profile inc bookmarks, passwords, plugins etc so it basically makes firefox exactly the same as you had it with no extra work needed.

there's too much scaremongering over MS's support for XP stopping - it's not like the sw is suddenly going to stop working!! As long as you're a careful surfer, keep a decent av up-to-date, and have MBAM there as a secondary, use a firewall and you are behind a router, you shouldn't have a problem. Anyway, even if you do, it only takes 20-30 mins to re-instate your backup image and away you go again ...whaddya mean, "what backup image??"

GunJack i mainly got it as some stuff i use i.e games won't accept XP even before the report of Microsoft not updating it anymore so it was inevitable in the end, need to give my p.c a good old fresh clean anyway.
