good, have had to give several people the bad news after they'd rushed out to "update xp before it died" that their pc was not up to win8... one even tried to blame me for their system not working after THEY'd done the W8 install

Yeah it's always the first thing i do GunJack when messing around with computers is to find out what is compatible and what ain't, had this P.C for over 12 years now (Gotta love Mesh computers) and have been upgrading it ever since when things conk out, last year was the PSU and Graphics card and Motherboard as it all went tits up.

So when it came to thinking of upgrading to Windows 8.1 i knew the first thing was to check as i know how Mr Bill Gates is the richest man on earth

like most loved XP only downside it used to slow after a few months,security updates......well way i look at it they want o hack my comp there are many many other ways besides the OS-- some software ,downloads etc most instal a pup or net logger prog,especially if you use a 3 rd party downloader like cnet softronic etc,this all is a gateway in....basic common sense stops 99.9 of it,i dont use ANY anti virus not even windows or windows defender never have,only active firewall is the Router one,use Maleware bytes once a month,way i look at MS is

XP everyone loved it
Vista good but had to many flaws and was mainly designed for buisness
Win 7 scrapped the crap out of Vista and became a good OS
Win8 have heard many problems people are having

like norm MS produces a good OS next is problem ,next is good,next is problem,so i expect there next Os will be a lot better than Win 8.1b...........

oh want to make things faster buy an SSD love the quick bang windows up games etc lol bought a 256 gb Samsung Evo from Pixmania inc delivery £99,good news the prices are steadily falling on SSD's

Just upgraded from XP too 8.1 and wow, what can i say....the most smoothest upgrade, thought i was gonna get error after error but all went as smooth as butter...also a big thanks to Mev with the suggestion of mozbackup ......it worked a treat

My p.c i now so much faster

Must say I've been pleasantly surprised with windows 8, though may look scary to some, it works and has been relatively easy installs.

Does seem faster too, but they always do before you bloat them up with software.
