I know, it's a bugger, means I'll actually have to spend some money on upgrading my desktop and my work laptop; the stingy Council won't pay to upgrade the OS for me. Might have to bite the bullet and spend £400 on a new laptop just for work and music editing/arranging/composing. At least it will work nice and fast, rather than the slowcoach of a machine I have and am using at the moment . .

Had me worried too Super-Shiny... till I checked and realised my laptop is running Vista (which will probably go the same way) I found out from here... www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26432473But it does say in that article that most security / anti virus companies will still support it for at least another year.

Same here Super-Shiny XP user - spoke to engineer who originally built mine from new, he's gonna put Windows 7 on it next week for me Damn nuisance though, got to back-up all my firefox bookmarks - got loads of them, + back-up my emails, take note of all my software codes such as anti-virus software, winzip, design suite activation code, + anything else I can think of in the meantime. I hate all this, there will probably be something I'll forget which will give me a major headache when I get the machine back. Microsoft does not play fair More expense too

Whenever I ran xp I just installed it and service pack 2 and that was it, all the stupid updates were a ballache anyway, just slowed people pc's down.
I've got the corporate edition and code, you can install it on any machine.
Also have all versions of win 7 with self activation that is fine for updates and windows essentials. I could write a copy to pass round if anyone needs it.

I love Windows 7 had my XP desktop and Vista/Win 8 laptops converted a year or so ago, cost me £60 for each machine to be done, best money I've spent on technical gubbins in a long time.
