Something similar happened to me years ago in Bologna, waiting for train from Rome to Zagreb, really wanted No.2, only to find it was a hole in the floor, instead held on desperately until the train arrived.

Oh and this thread is really going downhill, thought I was back at work for a minute

Yep Italy's toilets are holes in the floor, with 2 bricks to rest for feet against.
I've seen it in Milan, Pisa, and Florence .
Would rather pee at the side of the car, or in a hedge rather than have some barman take me down a secluded alley to said cubical.

Ok...1. If I had a vaping emergency I'd definitely grab a cigalike to tide me over, I do have a few NHS inhalator thingys left which I have in the car, at work etc, I've had to resort to them once and managed to survive. I'm not sure what their use by date is though, I must have had them 2 years +.

2. I've never peed in a bush, I can go under pressure, I'd be there for a week. There was a story in the local paper this week about a woman caught short on a girls night out, so she staggered off to find somewhere to pee and fell into some roman excavations, she tried to sue the council but they claimed she was too trollied to see where she was going and she lost
