I found with mesh I had to put cotton wool in side and a little on the outside like rips vid shows ie the cotton bud look to get a good wik and taste with mesh

You can just use a tube of oxidized mesh intheblim . . . though I found that Genesis atomizers weren't for me, preferring dessert type vapes I found they muted the flavour too much. Plus they seemed like a whole lot of faff to me as rebuildables go, but I can't be doing with tinkering with coils, so I'm not the right person to give you an unbiased opinion really.

Mesh on it's own is fine but you may need to pulse the coil for up to 10-15 minutes to get rid of hot spots, that's pressing the button on and off to heat the coil in pulses. You're basically building a layer of carbon between the coil and the mesh to stop the shorting etc.
Sticking a tiny amount of cotton around the end as suggested means you don't have that issue although it does taste different.
Same with wire rope.
You can also just use a straight cotton wick with micro coil or silica or ekowool.
All work fine but all have a slightly different taste.
Another thing with mesh or rope is it can get hot and cook some juices, like I vape caramel blend and you can see it caramelises a bit using mesh or rope due to the heat. Still vapes fine though.
