Do not use sera or jewel pads in your coil. these are normally used as a storage medium for holding the liquid which then just feeds your wick. They are not used for the direct contact with with the coil as it could give off noxious fumes during say, a dry hit, which you will then be inhaling.

I dont know for sure if it can be used but i have seen it in some posts on other forums and in pictures and i used it when i had tanks myself (fish) Its a filter media you place in fishtanks works really well in tanks for vapes im not so sure but you could pick up some from petshop cheap enough to try Somebody more knowledgeable than me will hopefully be able to tell you if they see this but i've never heard of anybody using these filter materials for making a wick. My guess is that it's probably not a good idea. ETA beaten to it by greigster

Wilko's Organic cotton wool works great in my protank coils, I don't find it tastes nasty at all and is cheap as chips.

When using cotton wool as a wick, you need to make sure you have washed your hands thoroughly before handling. Cotton wool is so absorbent, that it will allow the transfer of anything that you have on your hands, on to it, which will taint your vapour. The end of the cotton which you have rolled tight between thumb and forefinger to allow you to thread it through the coil, should be pulled through the coil enough, so it allows you to cut that part off, thus using only the barely touched section of the cotton in the coil.

Asda was the ones I used as well and I want getting on with it. I could taste the cotton very loudly over my juice. If you boil it though it tastes better

It's flipping great. the only time I've had a weird taste from it was in my genesis, where the wick had started to dry. It didn't burn but it tasted off. Once rewicked it was fine. Everything else - kayfuns, taifuns, spheroids, drippers - it's been fantastic.
