Cotton burning out ?

Hi i just started building coils using cotton and after about 1 hour of vaping at 7.5 and 1.5 ohm the cotton has burnt right through the middle leaving a gap - what can be causing this ?

Too much cotton packed too tightly at the coil
Not keeping the cotton moist, possibly Wicking issues in the attie you're using
They're the usual culprits

As said before prob too much cotton not allowing it to wick fast enough.
The old rule applies with cotton, less is more.

As blakey has said above plus make sure you wet the cotton wick and coil thoroughly before assembling your atty and filling up.

Is this on a kayfun style tank ?

Someone (sorry, I don't remember who it was) gave me some great advice for cotton wool. They said take os much as you think you'll need, then put half of it back. It has worked for me every time.

Totally true and something I come across often in drippers and tanks. Less is more with cotton.

What size micrcoil ID do use use for that yarn ?
