Yep, NRN required for the best results but you can use R only wire .... with premade NRN wires readily available you are better using them. Very hard to get a new Sophia but they come up often enough in the classies across the road.

If you opt for the Sophia it is a wise move to also buy the pre made coils in the ceramics as the killer ceramics need the spines on the cup filing down as they do not fit well on a Sophia, and there is nothing worse than breaking the only ceramic you have and having to wait on the post.
I highly rate the Sophia, I use mine with in conjunction with a s'n'p tank (best tank hands down imho) with 1.1 ohm NRN wire from greyhaze, I have tried the other resistances but find that 1.1 ohms to be my favourite by far, also I don't bother making my own NRN wire as tbh I cba.
The Sophia may not be the cheapest out there but I feel it is certainly worth the cost.

The £35 including postage was in reference to second hand in the classies which is what we had been discussing. £50 plus postage would be for new.

The other point with the Sophia is the thickness of the nrn N legs, make sure there 0.2mm as any bigger and there likely to be too tight to push the ceramic home and you can crack the ceramic.
I have two Sophia's and gave up on them after a lot of effort. I think it's probably about time to give them another go, they do go well the S&P tanks and look fantastic.

I have been using the ready-made NRNs from Grey Haze (1.8ohm) for the past 6 months and they fit fine Greg ... I haven't managed to break a ceramic so far (touch wood)
