advice on kayfun coil

Hi guys I've tried and tried to build a micro coil for my kayfun lite. I've followed super shineys method and a few other tutorials. It all goes well and looks the part until after using it for 10 mins I start getting a slight burnt taste. Any ideas?? It's sooo frustrating!!

watch the 1st half of this vid

i followed it and it works and im dumb lol
just rem when you have filled it to turn it upside down put a tissue under the drip tip and blow throw the air hole near base(helps prime it and get rid of excess juice)and try not to lie it down or it might leak but do the air hole blow again and all should be good

Sounds like you've maybe used too much cotton wool assuming your using cotton wool. If CW is too tight in the coil the coil strangles the wick and prevents efficient wicking. You should be able to pull the CW through the coil very easily with minimal resistance before you juice it up.

Tried less cw. Still tastes a little burnt

It definitely sounds like a wicking problem ... have you looked at Andrew W's excellent video on you tube?

Stick your finger over the airhole & take a quick draw, say 1sec. You should notice 1 or 2 air bubbles rising up (if you're using the clear tank section )

This will pull a bit of extra liquid into the chamber & help soak the wicks.

You'll know if you draw too long as it will slightly flood the chamber & you'll get gurgling.

I've had to do this from day one on both my Kayfun clones -  a 3.1 & Lite+.

Tried all sorts to fix it with no joy - silica, ekowool, voodoowool, different amounts of cotton, different coil types, etc...

Don't use a micro and cotton unless you're doing a chimney build otherwise just use the regular silica and normal coil, that's my advice. The wick doesn't seem to be able to keep up with cotton and micro in the kayfun imo. Works on a twin coil set up but then you're using twice as much cotton but with a single it doesn't seem to be enough wick.

The wick doesn't seem to be able to keep up with cotton and micro in the kayfun imo. Just got mine in the ultra sonic , never seen any thing like the coil in it ! So thin I could hardly see it ! If that's a micro coil I haven't a hope in hell with my eyes ! Any links for a normal coil build and links to silica and wire ? Pretty please ....

jaysey they normally come with normal coil & silica wick pre installed so I doubt it was a micro coil

ive no chance then was just bits of fluff , never would have worked in a million years ! Just fell to bits !

Mine work fine with single microcoil and cotton but I only vape between 8 and 12 watts, no wicking issues at these levels

You've been messing with kayfuns for while now though but for people newer to them I'd say go with the regular silica and coil build. Cotton can be a tricky one to get right and often needs practice to get the right balance between air, wick and coil.
