Well, I have had my 2nd hand trust fire for just over a year, it only charges on one bay now so it's time for an upgrade.
I have acquired a few batteries from an old laptop so I need a charger with plenty of bells and whistles.
Something like lcd display, different charging settings, voltage checker, battery health checker, not sure this next one is my own invention or if it's actually a feature but safety cut off if it detects the battery over heating.
Any ideas?
Not too pricey please!
Kind regards,
Chiller.

Not an Efest LUC, Nitecores are good but slow, I like the 2 A Xtar SP2 that Torchy was doing at 1/2 price £15, the WP2, VP1 and VP2 are good but don't do 2 A.

The features you asked for makes it pricy. The Pila is the one you need. Around £37

I'm surprised to find no analysing Li-ion battery chargers.
I mean, some of the features of ni-cd these days are amazing and some can even bring dead batteries back to life. (The one I own does anyway)
I'm also shocked that not a single charger I have looked at has a heat sensor which can detect a battery which is over heating and cut charging off.
I thought that would have been a no brainer as a safety feature.
I guess Li-ion is still too new.
So from a safety point of view, what is the best charger? I want something which I can put a bit of trust into when charging these laptop batteries. BTW, the laptop didn't have a battery problem, just everything else lol

I've had a Xtar WPII V2 for over a year and always test the final voltage and it has never missed a beat. I had the latest model EFest LUC V4 which overcharged a lot, sent back. I've had 2 Xtar SP2 for about 3 weeks, one charges about 0.15 V under and the other is spot on 4.20 V. Both Xtars have a revive program (automatic) for batteries that have been over discharges.
None of these monitor temperature and I would love to see this.

you pays your money and takes your chance i work in the electronic industry and see a lot of rubbish i dont get to see a lot of good stuff as i only get my hands on stuff that has broken down the only nitecore charger that i see is the 24 that we have at work in use 24 hours a day they never get turned off (i dont reccommend this at home though) i have never needed to repair 1 yet only bad point is that they are slow but reliable it is the only charger i would allow in a socket in my house
