Another Daily Mail scare story on E-cigs

Are you surprised?  This time on MRSA, entitled "Are e-cigarette smokers at risk from superbugs? Vapour helps deadly bacteria to thrive, say scientists"

The funny thing is the very last line of the piece - "However, the study also failed to give real cigarettes a clean bill of health. In fact, they were found to fuel MRSA even more than the electronic versions."


As one of the comments says "So the story could have gone - "Electronic cigarettes reduce the risk of MRSA compared to tobacco smoking""

My missus has just bought this in for me to see.

1. I am NOW an e-cigarette smoker... am I smoking? NO. next ....

2. E-cigs help deadly bacteria to thrive.... where is this deadly bacteria? How come I've not even had a cough since Vaping? next....

3. If they were regulated as a medicine, we would know what was in them.... um, have we gone back to 2008? next...

This is crazy.

Think it is fair to say that if the Daily Mail made such a comparison we would not appreciate it.

A: they have always found it hard to treat MRSA,to fact that patient who die from complications caused are not recorded--i know mum had it and had a heart attack which killed her but it was never put on death cert and never is according to most care home workers

From this "While the answer is not black and white, our study suggests a response" to this "even if e-cigarettes may not be as bad as tobacco, they still have measurable detrimental effects on health." in one sentence is an incredible conclusion and shows how dubious this press release is.

But lets play devil advocate here...real world solution to a fantasy world problem.
