I completely agree with you Scylla, they have far too little power

Yes Scyl, I do mean my little corner of the world. Every state makes it's own laws, rules, regulations. As long as those laws don't clash with Federal laws or our Constitutional rights, they are valid.

Jerry, out of interest, is it a crime in your state for a veterinary surgeon to de-claw a cat? I know it's sadly common practise in many parts of the US But thank goodness it is banned here in the UK.

I don't think it's against the law here in RI, Chrissie. Some people who have indoor cats, may have them de-clawed, so they don't tear up the furniture, but it's cruel to have an outdoor cat de-clawed. The Rhode Island laws are on the Internet, I'm curious now, so I will check it out.
Edit: I think it's legal, Chrissie. I didn't find anything that stated otherwise.

Sorry I couldn't watch it either, animal cruelty makes me feel physically sick, there's just no need. Sadly a lot of the people who perform these sick sad acts have been the victims of serious abuse themselves and feel they have power by torturing something that is smaller and weaker than themselves, no excuse I know. Quite often they will go on to commit more serious crimes (in the eyes of the law) for me personally hurting any living creature whether it be animal, marine or feathered is a crime.

I agree completely Dee, but I would like to add "human" to your last sentence.

Sorry Jerry, but IMHO de-clawing a cat is barbaric whether it's an indoor or outdoor cat. When it's done, they don't just take the claws out but remove part of the toes so the claws never grow back If people can't tolerate pets causing some damage to their furniture, they shouldn't get one - they would be better off getting a stuffed fluffy toy. 100% agree Dee.

There's no reason to be sorry, Chrissie. I agree with you and personally I would never have a cat de-clawed. I don't write the laws here and I was just giving a reason as to why some people have cats de-clawed.

Yes Bel, it is barbaric and so are the people who do it.

Completely agree Storm, from one vile person's abuse of an innocent animal . . . it's been a joy to read the lovely stories of so many unwanted & abandoned furries being given loving forever homes.

Lol Storm . . . I've got a box outside for post/parcels . . . all my mail used to get throughly munched with Sammy, in the days of hard copy tax returns, one was returned to HMRC held together with sellotape and multiple tooth marks. I decided action needed to be taken, to protect my post and people's fingers . . . he'd already destroyed those cage things that you can put on the back of your letter box. Ever so disappointed he was to, after the box was fitted.
