He handed himself into Margate police station, accompanied by his brief, according to the paper today . . . having been recognised and 'shopped' by a number of people.

Sorry, I can't watch it, but by the thread title and comments I can sadly imagine what it's about. I always say treat like for like and some. Perfect punishment for any crime and if people were aware they'd get that punishment, they'd think more than twice about doing evil things. Scum of the earth. >

Well I run an animal rescue and I couldnt watch it, made me feel sick. The only way we cope is by focussing on the good peeps, and there are a few of those about. This year for 160+ ferrets that have come into the rescue, we have found homes (GOOD homes!) for over 140 of them. What annoys me is the fact that animals are just disposable - if they dont fit into your life anymore, just get rid of them. Had a call from someone a couple of days ago who couldnt look after her ferrets as she had 6 kids and 3 dogs (she only had the ferrets for 2-3 months). Could I take them? Tempted to suggest she rehomes some of the kids but agreed to take the ferrets. I suppose at least she bothered to phone us. We see some real abuse cases like this one but they thankfully are quite rare. Its usually cases of neglect and ignorance, or just no longer wanted. Sorry, rant over!! Hope this tw*t gets his just rewards

Very pleased that he's been identified but dreading the light punishment he'll get. Still, he'll be a marked man for a long time to come, I imagine. scylla >

A sad world we live in for sure , we rescued our dog and she cowered away from me for months (as you can guess she was an abuse case). I had to take my time with her and even teach her how to bark again , Yes you read right she wouldn't bark because she was too bloody scared to in case she got a whack. In all that time she has shadowed my wife and now 3 years down the line she is a loving dog , still unsociable with other dogs though. Also a potential member for the N team as she likes trying to chew Jasons hand when he drops my stuff off

That's so sad storm. My Sammy was like that, frightened of his own shadow as he'd been starved and beaten for 18 months from puppy-hood until he was rescued. Sickening.

Well done to you & your wife storm Recently, someone rented a house near me & he was so proud that he had such total control over his dogs that they never ever barked Er that's what dogs do, they bark for many reasons & often due to the joy of just being dogs & being happy Plus they often bark to warn & protect their owners of potential danger. Husky, so many of my cats have come to me due to them not being the "perfect" pet in their previous "owners" eyes. Yet to me, every one of them is the most loving perfect cat They are all so happy & content & so loved. Anne, that is also so sad about your (((Sammy)))

It's a crime here to abuse animals, domestic or wild. It's a heavy fine and up to 5 year prison sentence for doing so.

Have to say . . . it's heart warming to see that so many people on here have given a furry in need, a second chance of having a happy, loving forever home.

Jerry, I think "here" must be in your particular bit of the US - I'm appalled by the conditions it's legal to keep pets in when I watch, eg, Houston or Chicago animal welfare groups powerless to confiscate poor creatures left outside or cooped up And judges returning animals to negligent or abusive owners All animal welfare organisations, including ours, have too little power, IMO.
