So I am totally new to mixing - as In I don't even have any mixing supplies. Been doing plent of revising around the mixology section though and seems pretty straightforward. Obviously it's down to my own tastes and a bit of trial and error, but the basics seem pretty simple. Just a couple of questions though... 1) Nic base - best to use PG or VG base? And what are the advantages of each? 2) Starter kits - worth getting one to give mixing a go? 3) Is it quite easy to do your mixing calculations with paper and pen?

Nic base depends what you want, I went PG and usually aim for around a 50/50 mix between PG and VG, PG is better for flavour and should give a better throat hit, VG gives more vapour and isn't as hard on the throat. Also some people can't take PG and get headaches etc so they vape 100% VG. Look at your favourite bought juices and see what mix they are, ask the supplier if need be, then copy that to start with. Make a small amount say 10ml and see how it vapes, you can always make more if you like it. There's a mix calculator on here but I tend to use this one for it's ease of use www.c9v-forum.com/Resources/Calc/calc.htmNot sure about the pen and paper thing Starter kit sounds quite good, I didn't do that myself but it sounds like an easy way to get going.

I also use a pg nic base - but then I like my throat hit and generally mix on 70/30 - I use only the forum's calculator - I make myself an unflavoured pg-vg-nic base - so I just need to add the flavour and that's easy as I generally mix on 20 % - so add 2ml for 10ml , 4ml for 20 ................ I never bought a starter kit - guess it depends on the price - if you find a cheap one - why not

Not a bad idea, at least you'll have all the essentials from one place3) Is it quite easy to do your mixing calculations with paper and pen? Use the forum Mix Calc, it's so much easier and you have the advantage of saving the recipe if you want to (which would be a good idea!!)

I use VG because I'm PG sensitive - it depends what your preferred ratio is Mikey, if you're fine with PG then I'd probably go for that. 2) Starter kits - worth getting one to give mixing a go? I think so as it gives a good indication of whether it's going to be for you or not, but it is a more costly way of buying the ingredients.3) Is it quite easy to do your mixing calculations with paper and pen? Don't. Calculators are very easy to use . . . Ejuicemeup is another excellent one: ejuice.breaktru.com/Have you read this thread Mikey@Vaporized, it's an excellent starting out guide, if you haven't already that is: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/21122/beginners-guide-mixing?page=1&scrollTo=393373Start with ' standalone ' flavours, make small volumes initially - don't be tempted to make 30ml up at first until you get to grips with your tastes and flavours, 10ml is ideal.

Thanks folks - Perpetua, I think I have read everything in the mixology section couple of times over now just need to decide whether to buy a starter kit or not. Chefs vapour do one at £25 pound and all i'd need to add is a couple 1ml syringes. Thinking about that to get started

If it gives you the confidence to then go on to bigger mixing exploits, then it's worth it Mikey@Vaporized.
