Lately there have been a lot of threads started in the Absolute Beginners/ New Members board that don't belong there. That board really is just for folks who are completely new to e-cigs &/or for new members to introduce themselves Although it is easy enough for the forum staff to move the threads to a more appropriate board, it could be off putting to new members to see the board full of locked moved threads And if a too techy thread is left there, that could also put new folks off from even starting to use e-cigs. So from now on, threads will be moved from that board without a "this thread has been moved to..." link left. Instead the OP will be sent an auto PM informing them where the thread has been moved to

Just a thought Chrissie, but could it be worth re-naming the board as introductions, or something similar? Only reason I say this, is new members, me included, tend to consider themselves as beginners/newbies for quite a while, even if they are progressing through the various vaping stages at a fairly rapid pace... I know after 3 months, I still thought of myself as a beginner

lairey I've been wondering about that, but not sure where new members would then post with basic new member questions. I was also thinking of splitting the board into 2 separate boards "Introductions" & "Absolute beginners" but I can't see how that would resolve the issues

How about the 2 boards above, but with a sub board in General for not-so-absolute beginners questions? Obviously thought would need to go into the naming of the board It's a tough one Chrissie. Can you prevent anyone that's senior member or above, from starting a thread in the newbies' board maybe?

What about a limit? Is there a way to stop members starting new threads in the Absolute Beginners/ New Members board once they have, say, 50 posts? Obviously the actual number will need some discussion. I've seen it work on a few forums.

Some new members are very advanced with their vaping set ups and have a lot to offer though. Just new to this forum

lairey & Ripshod - no, not unless I add every new member to a group & then move them out again after they have hit the target posts. As you can imagine, that would be very time consuming, however I'd be surprised if there isn't a way round this, so I will look into it further. On the other hand it would be so much easier all round if non newbie type threads were posted on the General e-cig/vaping discussions board

there will always be genuine mistakes that is what makes us human but I agree something needs to be done to take the pressure off admin after all they do a marvellous job and without them it would be chaos

lairey I doubt a lot of folks read the auto welcome PM & the more I put in it, the less likely it will be read decoy nothing to apologise for Having a thread moved isn't something to feel bad about, it's just done to make the forum more useful for everyone
