It's a steep learning curve for people like me. Impatient. Thanks for your advice I will order a new battery today. I am grateful for all the advice as I am the only person I know who has switched to vaping. Many of my smoker friends are watching my journey and are thinking about giving up their expensive stinkies.

ady if as you say "your trying to run before you can walk", your bound to have a stumble on occasion. Just think of us as your saftey net, there is never a stupid question asked on here if it means helping out a fellow vaper. So remember, take it slow and easy and ask for advice we all had to start somewhere and are well versed in the potential pittfalls and problems newcomers may face. Above all, Enjoy.

ady your not alone, especially using this forum, if your not sure then run it past the members before you commit to buying, and they will happily give you the advice you need. Myself and others jumped in quick because we could see you had got a dodgy battery and were probably using it as you wrote your thread.

I think you should get a refund on the battery. Put the money towards a good one. (Whoever it was, they can't get away with calling a battery 4900mAh) not unless it's for a rocket.... Bad luck. (I'm not being much help am I?)

Bad luck, ady Best to spend a few quid more & get a decent battery. Torchy's opinions about cheapos (on any of his eBay listings) make good reading: the man knows his stuff, for sure. He says you should never buy a battery with 'fire' in its name for use with an e-cig

I have a Vamo, and use it with a couple of Panasonic 18650B 3400mah batteries. They will typically last about 36 hours between charges with my usual vaping pattern, and I have had these for well over a year with no problems. They have yet to show real signs of fading, and they are now used (with care!!) in my mechanical mod. Torchy and Ecolux are both good traders with an excellent product knowledge and prices, and the delivery is quick too. Sure, this vaping business is a learning curve, but as DiscoDes says consider us as your panel of friendly advisors who can guide you through the minefields and ensure that you spend your money wisely.

ady, what charger are you using? Just a little concerned you may have bought a kit and if the battery's dodgy, the charger may be too. And when you do buy a new battery, buy 2 so you can use one whilst the other is on charge, the bigger 18650 batteries can take around 4 hours to charge.

Trustfire TR-001. That's defo on the list as one you can't leave alone. You must only charge when you're around to monitor it and switch off as soon as the light goes green.
The TR-001 is known for passing a current, albeit a small current, through the battery even when the charge is complete.
For your own convenience and security you must consider an upgrade in the near future.

ady I hope you got something else to Vape on whilst waiting for batteries. Everyone here will tell you to look at getting a "nitro" charger, about 15 quid and seemingly the best bet for us. I'm actually waiting on a trust 001 from vapemate as they only had a duff one in stock. They sent me a single generic sigelei charger to tide me over which charges 1 battery. My 2400mah battery takes about 3 hours to go green. For added safety with charging any lipo batteries (obviously not phone and laptop batteries lol) is to charge them in a LIPO charging safety bag. (or a tin box) Just ask any electric RC model enthusiast and they will tell you the most headache of anything with high consumption, high drain devices like brush-less motors and Mods (in our case) is batteries and safety. You don't have to be anal with it, just be aware of the risks. it isn't quite the same as sticking 4 nicad's in a charger, leaving it for 16h and hope that when you return the are at least a wee bit warm lol. Ruff.

Direct from Torchy is the best way, he knows what he's talking about and ONLY sells good batteries, drop him an email and ask his advice, and while you're about it ask what HE thinks of ultrafire batteries edit.. Just realised I'm a few days late with my advice, I put it down to age
