it's funny i have around 8 ego and find they leak all the time my tornado t doesn't leak at all, but thank you all for your replies, yes i did get it from totally wicked when they were on offer, trying to wean myself off nicotine at mo as a heavy smoker I'm still using it quite a lot don't think it's ever far from my hand, lol hence i want one that lasts rather than having to change them out every few hours i had lots of atomisers with coils in, i think I've had one coil die on me going from what you have said starts to taste burnt, thought it was the e liquid but guessing it's the coil now, didn't even know you had to clean them out until today when joined a forum, guess i should do some more reading think all mine will need some maintenance today, will look at the site you recommend, i do appreciate all your comments and help i'm wary of getting them from places like ebay i bought one starter kit from there and they only last an hour

Hi and welcome. Good work on getting this far, but if you do slip and have a stinky don't worry. Many people do. And don't worry ifit takes awhile to get your Inc levels down. Staying of the stinky is the main thing. Have a good read around the forum. You will see and read about some great bits of kit. An I'm betting that in less than a week of being a member here you order some better kit than you have now. I would recommend the itaste vv3 with a pro tank 2 or 3. Or a vision spinner two with one of the pro tanks . Don't feel that you have to "keep up with the Jones" with vapeing gear. If you find something that your happy with. That's all you need to worry about. Good luck and enjoy the forum

Hi clairea to AAEC. DiscoDes and jess have linked some good choices to look into. It sounds like your looking for more life out of your battery. So the spinner2 at 1300mah and the mvp2 at 2600mah are worth looking at. (both of these also let you turn the power up or down to suit your taste). You may find that one spinner is all you need to go with your other battery that lasts all day. Coils for tanks usually last 10-14 days before they start to drop off and need changing. Im not familiar with the tank you are using but there are some good tanks out there that are cheap to maintain. The protank2 mini is a good little tank for £6 and the 5 pack of coils are £6. Take a look at the myepack site they are one of the best for price and great service as well.

Hi claireaHow do you find it? These were infamous for leaking and expensive running costs. Maybe they are improved these days. One of my mates uses one and refuses to change. He tried an MVP with a mini Protank the other day (mine) and to say he was impressed would be an understatement.

Hello & welcome clairea The Tornado-T really is a tad outdated these days & as djs says, they were infamous for leaking and expensive running costs. Could you tell us a bit more about the " i have around 8 ego and find they leak all the time" & link to what you have

clairea - hi and a warm welcome from me too You have already received some good links and help above, so I won't confuse you any more; I'll simply add that the Mini Protank with a Spinner battery will give you a good quality clearomiser (the bit that holds the juice) with a glass tank which will be fine with all juices (some crack the polycarbonate 'plastic' tanks), and the heads are cheap and reliable. The Spinner is a great battery, and also has Variable Voltage so that you can adjust the amount of power going to your coil to suit your needs - a very useful addition! Myepack is a good vendor, and many of us use them with their competitive pricing and fast delivery. Keep asking away, that's what we are here for!

A warm welcome, clairea I won't try to add to the sensible advice above about which stuff you might consider, I'll just emphasise that you shouldn't ever be shy about asking for advice or info - even if you feel a bit sheepish! All questions will be answered, we all remember our early days of vaping and how complex it all seemed Hope you enjoy yourself here

Welcome Clairea, others with far more experience than me will no doubt help with recommendations. I have to agree with you on the prefilled cartridges, I started with them and they just seem too mild, even using high strength. I'm now using a V3 Ego and finding it much better. I see where you're coming from on wanting to get away from tobacco altogether, what I do is mix some tobacco liquid (medium/low strength) with another flavour or two. Right now I'm using tobacco, cappuccino and a few drops of vanilla. You could try that, see how you go and maybe increase/decrease the tobacco depending on how you find it. As a smoker of 42 years I don't want to push myself too soon by getting rid of tobacco entirely although that's my long term aim. Likewise with the nicotine, I'm gradually reducing the strength and hopefully I'll eventually be able to cut it out altogether. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Another newbie question - I've been looking at the Protank, but what confuses me is the "heads". My starter kits have battery, charger, clearomiser and mouthpiece. Would you mind explaining what heads are and what is involved in fitting them? I noticed in one review someone said they had to go to Utube to see how to set theirs up so I'm thinking it may be beyond anyone with poor eyesight like me.

Spiritdancer - the 'head' means the atomiser head, the coil and wick bit that vapourises your juice. They have a finite lifespan, even with cleaning and something called 'dry burning' which burns off the carbonised gunk which accumulates on the coil and wick over time; dry burning might get you another couple of weeks from your head, but eventually you will need to discard it (but DON'T throw it away; either you will be intrigued enough to have a go recoiling it yourself, or someone will offer to do it for you!). If you have an empty Protank to hand, unscrew the knurled bottom, just as you would if you were filling with juice. You should then be left with two parts; the glass and steel top section, either with or without removeable driptip, depending on version, and the base section which contains the head. See the thin grooved section which engages inside the chimney of the top section? that's actually the top of the head. Grip and unscrew, and you should have a small atomiser head and the base section which is essentially a disc with a few threads!! This atomiser head is the item which is consumable, and they come in various different ohm ratings (resistance, in other words). A higher resistance (2.0 to 2.8ohm) will use up your battery a bit more quickly, but will give a cooler vape. Lower resistance (1.5 - 2.0 ohm) will enable your battery to last longer between charges but the lack of resistance will mean that more power gets to the coil and heats up more liquid faster. This of course gives more vapour, and sometimes more flavour too, as well as higher TH (Throat Hit). When using Protanks regularly, I used 1.8ohm heads, but now I put microcoils in them myself and work at around 1.3 ohms. This gives a decent enough kick on a mechanical mod where I have no electronics to boost the power for me, relying on the power in the battery. I hope this helps; if not, ask some more questions!!
