I don't use an Ultrasonic for steeping as I've yet to be convinced that anything beats some time and patience rigdriver . . . . it's the difference between a naturally ripened tomato and a forced one for me.

I have done the ultra-sonic steeping when many people suggested it as a way of speeding up the process but to be honest, I believe it was a bit like the kings clothes. If you believed it worked then it did.........but, I did not believe it then and I do not believe it now. There is a visible change in colour but that is all. A change in colour does not necessarily mean a change in the flavour, I never found any enhancement of the flavour. As both Perps and Clivia have said, the only way to steep your liquid....... is to steep your liquid, I don't believe there are any short cuts.

I've heard some vendors use a magnetic stirrer to speed up steeping, not sure if it works but I'd imagine continually stirring the liquid with this method would speed things up.
