Why don't they make the bread to fit the toaster? I'll get me coat. Good point.

No waste in our house... got a dog! (Toast is her favourite meal of the day!!)
Easy fix.... just switch off the toaster/pull the plug out and prise them out, works for me on the odd occasion I've had that happen! Bread tends to shrink a bit so I've not really had too many problems... unless I use posh bread (you know the stuff with the crusty rounded top... yum!!) bog standard Warburtons
Yes, I've done that... BUT we shouldn't have to. To me they are the most consumer UN-friendly appliance out there. I think we should boycott all toaster manufacturers until they listen to us, and I'll just chuck my bread under the grill. I agree Raffles , we shouldn't have to, and manufacturers really need to get their act together and produce a toaster that can actually 1. Toast the bread whatever size slice you put in it 2. Toast it the way you want it (ours makes up its own mind how white/golden brown/brown/charcoaled you're getting your toast! No matter where you have the dial!)
I would boycott as you say but not sure my dog would be happy with her lack of reject toast!!

I think they are in cahoots with the specific loaf brands.
My toaster is compatible with Danish milk loaf but if I buy a Warbutons toastie, its a job and a half.
love the idea of taking a slice to try before you buy.

And they say "Taste is subjective" No good when you get anemic toast. It's gotta have some carbon and crack into a gazillion pieces when you attempt to add the flavoring of your choice to it. lol

But why don't they make ALL toasters to fit the 'general sized' bread ?

You want to try putting crumpets in a toaster & then trying to get them out when they are cooked & very hot!! I think the "go to Currys/Comet" with a slice of bread is genius - you could also take a loaf and ask if they can plug the toaster in so you can test the evenness of the toasting too

it's the same problem with those sandwich toasters ... you have to cut off half the bread to fit them in !

This is what you need guys - Dualit Newgen Toaster - my mate's got one and will take a country loaf slice easily. Great solid bit of kit too; it takes making toast to a whole new level!
