I have some juice which hits pretty hard. I also usually get a dry throat/mouth soon after I vape a few times with this. Is there some way I can make it seem milder? ftr, the juices are 18mg HS Delight, and Dekang USA Mix, both from Vapescape. I seem to vaguely recall that the proportion of VG/PG determines throat hit, but would appreciate some education. thanks

surfatworkBoth those liquids are fairly powerful i.m.o. The HS delight is especially hard on the throat. I vape all sorts of ratios (PG, VG) and don't really notice much difference unless I vape 100% VG which is indeed very smooth. Mr e-cig were doing 100% VG Dekang for £1.50 last time I looked . However, you might need to email them to find out which ones were 100% VG. mr-ecig.co.uk/

surfatwork you could try adding some VG, this will make it a milder throat hit and give you more vapour too. you can get it at boots for £1.29. Though this would reduce the nicotine strength, to get an accurate measure try using the mix calculator off the top of my head adding around 5ml of VG to 10 ml of 18mg bring the strength down to around 11mg (sure some one could give you a correct figure)

Remember that diluting your liquid will not only reduce your nic but also the flavour, as I recall Hansen and dekang are mixed at either 80/20 or 70/30 pg/vg.

So i bought some VG from Boots and mixed it in a 1:1 ratio. Since the original liquid was 70:30, it should now be 35:65. it did reduce the throat hit, but not by as much as i though it would. I am getting a burnt taste now, so I wonder if the e-liquid is too thick and is not soaking the yarn and i am getting a dry burn.
But here is the strange bit: the liquid I vape the most is Decadent Vapours which is 70:30. I find that very smooth, also in 18mg. So why would 35:65 mix give a harder throat hit than 70:30? and is the burnt taste because the VG mixed e-liquid is too thick?

surfatwork you shouldn't use the boots vg neat as it is indeed too thick. Dilute it with 10% vodka - it thins it enough to be more user friendly and will give less wicking problems (burned taste 'coz the juice is too thick to effectively soak up the wick to the coil). I'd pre-dilute the vg, and maybe only add in a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio with your juice, rather than 1:1. HTH

yup, my next mix tastes better. Thankfully my first experiment was only with a sample. I added water to the VG to dilute it - will try vodka

Vamo, and also a normal eGo battery. I am finding the vodka mix with some of the original dekang mix thrown in very agreeable. thanks GunJack
