BigG I just took a length of 0.5mm kanthal, folded it over, twisted the loose ends together then clamped the in vice. I stuck an allen key in the drill and put it through the loop at the other end then twisted till it was where I wanted it. Then it was just a case of wrapping the coils. Only downside is on that atty the wire holes are a bit thin so I had to wrap a coil, poke it through the centre post then wrap the other coil and tidy it up after. You can twist it by hand too, takes a minute. Vice grips gripped between the legs will also work then stick a pen or screw driver through the loop and twist while pulling the wire straight. I usually make a fist over the wire so the loop with the pen is sitting against the thumb etc so I can pull it straight while I use a finger to push the pen round to twist.

Ah didn't realise it was just twisted, looks like its woven in the pic

masteedmanI found that on a 2mm drill bit it seemed to take a while to heat so i now do 6 wraps on a 1.5mm drill bit and its virtually instant

Geordie ... I've tried stacking 18350s in the useless carvella clone mod I have ... The tubes are way too long for ordinary 18650s so I thought 2 350s might work ... Nope .. They fire but too long ... Gonna bin that useless chunk of metal Why don't you get some 10mm magnets and stick it to the 18650 to make it longer? ClickyI have tried twisted coils using 0.25, twisted with a drill bit.. Can't seem to get a stable resistance.

I've been using twisted coils exclusively for months and luv em!
Tend to stick with either 0.15 or 0.17 though and vary wraps or amount of strands to get the desired resistance etc
Fave at the minute is this.
two strands of 0.17 kanthal twisted x 2
wrap it as a parallel coil (6 times) around 3mm drill bit. (gives 0.7ohms)
Red astaire has never tasted so good!

I read this thread this afternoon whir supposed to be working and now twisted coils has to go on the list of gaping things I thought I would never do but have anded up doing anyway. I got some 0.25mm kanthal, put the ends in a vice and started twisting it with a screwdriver. It didn't take long to do and I now have about 4 feet done. 5 wraps dual coil in my Origen dripper came out at about 0.35ohms, wicked it and soaked with Tripphammer fizzy trifle. Then I tried it and wow. Much hotter vape than Im used to, seriously vast amount of vapour and so much flavour that I think I have killed my taste buds. I am beginning to think 18mg isn't such a good idea for this build, once I get my throat back I'll think about ordering some lower nic juice if Im going to make a habit of doing this. Its a seriously nice build but uses huge amounts of liquid and will kick your throat right out the back of your neck. Fun though

maccafanthe reason for fluctuation is that the wire wasnt twisted enough Keep it going in the drill until it snaps off the anchorpoint at the drill end

Put a picture hook on the drill and held the open ends with nose pliers at full stretch and kept going till it snapped. I was expecting half the resistance but the resistance was not stable for some reason. Will give it another go.

Only time I got iffy readings was when the wires weren't caught properly at the terminals
