Well when you get down to brass tacks, if OH doesn't want to quit smoking nothing you buy will work, it's just that simple. The people who are vaping wanted to quit smoking and did.

I know what you mean Bard, but I don't think it's true where e-cigs are concerned. I remember from way back when I first set up the eBay e-cig group. So many members said they didn't want to stop smoking so nothing was ever going to help them. Three & a half years later, I know that they are still enjoying vaping & haven't ever wanted to go back to smoking

That wasn't really true for me either Bard. I may be in the minority lol. It wasn't that I wanted to stop smoking, I still enjoyed it very much and was a relatively happy smoker. I think it's more the being open to new ideas, and willing to at least try it that seems to help some people take those first steps. Once I tried it and realised it was very similar then it was easier to make the switch over. Even now when people ask me if I'm using my e-cig to quit smoking, I say no. They look at me all confused and I just say I changed brands, everythign is going digital these days It's as close to smoking as I can get as safely as possible, thats what did it for me

I think everyone wants to quit... why wouldnt you? but some just are never ready to give up because they enjoy it or addicted or both. vaping gives the closes experience to smoking and for alot of people is far more enjoyable... so why not give them a good starter kit and the best advice so they can see how great it can be... sure its not for everyone but you'll never know if you dont try

Scylla, do you also remember how adamant Chi was that she knew for certain nothing would work for her?

When i gave up smoking i kind of had to - i took up vaping 1. to kill the cig cravings 2. to not need so much crap going into my body - sure they aren't strictly healthy but IMHO are better and less stinky than analogs.
My friend gave up because he tried my e-cig - i made him a box mod and he's had 2 puffs of an analog since to remind himself why he's not buying them anymore.

In all honesty I have not lost my craving for a cig ( how could I after 35 yrs) but I have certain juices I turn to .. ( thanks to Griz's advice ) that give me enough pleasure not to want a cig . I do hope in time that the cravings will go away but for now vaping is helping me immensely , as you new vapers will see from my sig it's been almost a year .. it's not easy but vaping has helped me thus far. From 40 a day for almost 15 years to zero in the space of 2 weeks .. something is working .

I think you have done really well, its really encouraging when I see posts like yours, despite still getting odd cravings you have kept with your vaping. I do think there are 2 kinds of smokers; habitual and addicts (sounds awful that). I enjoyed the hand to mouth, blowing smoke rings kind of smoker and of the 10-15 I smoked a day probably only enjoyed 2 of them, so me vaping is ideal as I still get all the things I enjoyed as a smoker, without the harm. Those who where addicted to the taste and cigarettes in general can adapt to using an ecig but probably always will have moments where they feel really "need" a proper cigarette. I can hand on heart say, ive been stopped one whole month this Saturday after 29 years of smoking, that not once even on a night out been tempted or craved a cigarette. I think too if you get into the mentality of " I don't smoke, I vape" it helps. The only thing that annoys me is those who are totally ignorant to what an ecig, take my mother in law (please! ) she says im still smoking as she sees "smoke" and no matter what I say to her she doesn't want to hear. I now get lectures on "when are you going to quit these things?" my reply "never love!"

P'raps not; could lead to divorce. Fox
