well done Josie thats fab news as for your mother in law, next time she bils the kettle shout in an alarmed voice that the kettle is smoking... it may help her realise the differences ...probably not tho LOL btw my dad is the same way. he loves that i have given up the smokes but still is keen on me giving up vaping... not a chance You could also tell your MiL to stop breathing next time she's out on a frosty night. P'raps not; could lead to divorce. Fox I now have my other half asking me when will I quit e-cigs ... my answer is does it really matter I average a £50 spend per month compared to almost £300 when I smoked IMO it's a no brainer

I did say your coffee has the exact same steam coming off, but being the person she is, she doesnt grasp the concept of ecigs! This coming off the same woman who take her car on the shortest of trips to a shop 10 minutes away; pot and kettle springs to mind with the carbon monoxide her exhaust spews out!....But no chance of me stopping vaping, give up on as much creamy caramel, chocolate orange and lemon meringue I think not!

When people ask me if it's smoke I'm bowing out, I compare it to a nightclub smoke machine. Just with extra nicotine, most folks seem to grasp that concept. Get a led cartomiser and put some really loud music on next time she makes a comment lol

I compare it to the vapour that's emitted from an asthmatics inhaler, which is exactly what it is. Same as when they need to wear the full face masks and what look like 'steam' is emitted from all sides of it. It's the same vapour as from e cigs.
I didn't want to give up smoking, I enjoyed it, but it just got to a point where I couldn't afford to smoke anymore. I stopped cold turkey for a couple of weeks until my e cig arrived and haven't had one tobacco cigarette since. Just before I went in to hospital, I was diagnosed with early onset emphysema/COPD. If I'd have carried on smoking. I'd have probably had full blown COPD in 10 years time.

My Dad had COPD and loads in my family have it, i wouldn't have been at all surprised if I had early onset, I certainly had a lot of the symptoms. Ive nursed lots of people with smoking related illnesses and there's nothing worse that watching a patient struggle to breathe, well done Anne, your post is really inspiring to me. I wish you a healthy 2012 and hope you continue to encourage and inspire us new to vaping, that goes for all of you.

I just wanted to pop back and say thanks for all the advice and help. OH was dead set on wanting the Skycig after trying it and liking it. I couldn't persuade him to go with the other options suggested. However, once Xmas was out the way and we had some cash I found a £30 discount code so managed to get the starter pack for £9.99 as it was already on offer at £39.99. This included the charging pack, 2 batteries and a cartridge of each flavour to try, tobacco, menthol, marlboro, cherry and vanilla. He was quite surprised that he like the cherry flavour the best as expected to want the tobacco.
Even for him, who hates fiddly things, it's very simple to use, you simply charge the box which can then recharge the battery up to 6 times before the box needs a recharge so if the battery dies he simply unscrews the cartridge and switches the battery, so there is always one charged up.
He may progress on to the other models further down the line, but for now I am very pleased to say he has been vaping for 3 weeks, with no desire at all for a traditional cigarette, no longer smells of smoke, I have nicknamed him my cherry air freshener, has already stopped coughing so much, and is saving us a fortune. He's gone from smoking about 20 a day (approx £6.30) to using one cartridge every 2 days and they are £7.99 for 5 cartridges. It's great!
As for the posts above about only people who wanting to quit switching to vaping, I don't agree. My OH wasn't planning on giving up, he had tried in the past and failed, he had accepted he would probably always be a smoker, but a colleague came in to work with an e-cig and he tried it and couldn't believe how good it was and wanted to try it for himself as he was sick of the rest of us nagging him. I don't think he even expected to want to use it all the time, but use it a home to keep us happy really, however that all changed very quickly, he say's e-cigs are the future of smoking. We kind of think of it as smoking without the smoke, it's keeping us all happy!

So good to hear from you Rainey & very pleased to hear your OH is getting on with his e-cig Do bear in mind though that some of these "cheap" offers are just to draw you in & the replacement parts are usually very expensive.

I always enjoyed the tobacco flavour of the pre-filled cartridges. Anyone know if it can be bought as an e liquid?

Thanks, I understand that, but it's still working out much cheaper than smoking and much healthier all round, should he need new batteries etc they don't look too bad to replace. As I say he will probably move on at some stage but just taking one step at a time. It was quite a big thing for him to make the switch and was just comfortable going with something he had already tried. I think should it start to become unreliable he would now be happy to try one of the ones you have recommended.

Rainey, you are so right, it was a big thing for him to make the switch & it is best for him to stick with what he is comfortable with.
