Hi everyone.  I am a new member and started vaping about three weeks ago. I am a little unusual as I quit smoking several years ago.  However my daughter suggested a I tried this as I have been through a rather stressful time and if I just used zero nicotine I might find this helpful. Well I love it and enjoy strawberry mint flavour at the moment.  I only use good quality brands of e-liquid and no Nicotine.  So what's the problem?  Then I find all these medical trials saying it's dangerous, and now a possible ban. I am really upset, and wonder what everyone really thinks?  I would welcome some feedback. Thanks for listening.

I'd ignore 99.9% of what you've read and discount it as scaremongering twaddle.

If, and it's far from being decided any regulation is implemented, using 0mg eliquid . . . you're in the very happy position of being able to make your own. Which would also save you money, whatever happens in the future.

Delighted to hear that vaping is helping you though a stressful time and that you're enjoying it.

Most of the negative reports come from a few sources that have their own agenda that point towards handing control of e-cigs over to big tobacco.
The reports from the US are carried out by people who are funded by the FDA, who are trying to regulate by because they are in the pockets of big tobacco.
Its all about the MONEY.

We know what is in e-juice and the tests on those ingredients suggest there are no harmful effects.
There is plenty on this forum to research yourself, that talk about the various reports that have been done and its always been apparent what the agenda of those reports are.
Im sure some will list the threads as i don't have them to hand myself.

As for yourself, I don't see a problem in someone vaping who has already quit smoking.

as has been said above, most of the media hype is just that, we are just an easy target for gutter journolists at the momement. The expert opinions from the scientific community supports the use of vaping.

As an example, have you ever bothered to read these information sheets that come with most medications? It's amazing that anyone takes anything for any reason if you read all the whys and wherefores..........So just relax, enjoy your new passtime and if you need any help, just ask.

The way I'd see it is that Vegetable Glycerin can be found in various common items around your house. A few examples include:

Sugar substitute
In Beauty products including makeup, mousse, shampoo, bubble bath, after shave, and deodorant
Pet food
Soap
Skin and hand cream
Baked goods – increase moisture
As a thick gel for creams, gel capsule pills, rubs and jellies
Eye & ear drops, toothpastes, pastes, and many dental care products

so its already proved pretty safe to ingest,

Glycerol is one of the most benign organic liquids known to man. It is hype-allergenic, non-carcinigeic, non teratogenic and non-mutagenic. It is metabolized quite easily by a process called beta-oxidation. This process results in the production of CO2 and H2O and is a quite normal, common, and natural catabolic process.

Allergies

The risk of being allergic to vegetable glycerin is very low. The only patient population which may experience problems with metabolism of Glycerol would be diabetics owing to the anabolic hepatic pathway which can convert free Glycerol to glucose(but this would still not be an issue at the levels used in vaping).

Side Effects

The most common noted side effect of inhalation of e-liquid containing vegetable glycerin is a dry mouth, sore throat, and increased thirst. These symptoms usually last just a few days to a week as the body gets used to the vegetable glycerin. These symptoms can be lessened by drinking more water and liquids then usual for the first few weeks of using your e-cigarette.

hi and welcome, not going to repeat what everyone else has said by vegetable glycerin is also used in cake making, not only in the baking but most of the hard icing uses vegetable glycerin, like the icing you get on christmas, birthday and wedding cakes, it also helps the cakes to rise and stay moist because it attracts water,
Glycerin is the by product of soap, most commercial soaps manufactures take the glycerin out of soaps and use it for other things, but hand made home made soap is full of glycerin and the soap is so much better for you, (wouldn't eat it though lol)


the other ingredient propylene glycol is used in asthma inhalers, air conditioning units and air fresheners all the time esp the spray air fresheners or the reed diffusers, so it's often in the air,

Thanks everyone for your welcome and response. My daughter is a prescribing nurse and has been vaping for some time. Is enabled her to give up smoking and she agrees with everyone that all the hype is from those who are losing money. I will continue and enjoy it. So pleased to find this forum, and what a lot of great people you are.
