Anyone watching, seems much lower key than the Olympics. Heard the British national anthem earlier and it was almost unrecognisable ???
Oh and Gary Lineker really needs to take a break, he's never of the telly.

I wanted to take hubby to see the cycling but all the tickets were gone, It's Chris Hoyes farewell games and in his home country so i'm sure it will be spectacular send off. a friend of my coaches the british dive team so she is going up there tomorrow, and hubby used to be a championship swimmer, an his/our niece is a horse show jumper, but think she has settled for horse of year show, but lots n the games to watch and i love athletics not that i was ever any good, now footie is another matter but we had the world cup.
but by having all the sport on tv lately may be it will inspire the young kids instead of them staring a games machine all day

I work for a German bank(World Cup was a nightmare), and of the 2000 employees in London 97% are foreign, ie. working on visas. They see the CWG as Britain trying to hold onto its last connection to its long gone empire. Because the selection criteria is based on geography rather than class it will always be looked on with derision. We tend to rank it third in multi sport athletic events, after the Olympics and the World Championships. I am afraid the rest of the world view it as a "friendly" event that they are not invited to. Having ran competitively at 1000m and 5000m and half marathon and also competed in decathalon and boxing, I love any athletics event, but an event that the best aren't invited to is a bit like a damp squib. I think it's time to let this last remnant of the empire go, as the world is having a giggle at our expense.

Actually it is picking up a bit in terms of interest but any competition that outlaws the best will always be second rate, a bit live leaving school with CSE,s for those old enough to remember what they are

Loving the swimming-boxing-triathlon-cycling at the games and we still have the athletics to come. But if you can't wait, the junior world athletic champs in Oregon are live on Eurosport at 10.30pm Day 5. Some very good performances.
