WTFSo we have campaigns to ban or regulate e-cigs, then this deathstick appears? Is this a genuine attempt to tempt smokers, or an attempt to blacken the image of vaping?

More blacken the image of vaping and confuse smokers... If smokers think all e-cigs or even some are tobacco related then they appear less healthy And the antis have a blast!!!.....They have condemned nicotine as much as they can (despite scientific evidence to the contrary). I still have an 80+year old anti smoking eejit tell me I'm committing suicide with my e-cig - not!!! - just because it has nicotine in it so this will make the whole situation even more confusing Up until now this was one of the plus points with e-cigs. They didn't contain tobacco and tobacco was Mr Evil Sorry....not a good move Mr Morris

"HeatSticks contain real tobacco" So they wont be as cost efficient as ejuice. A lot of vapers like myself switched to vaping because of the cost of tobacco sky rocketing. I honestly cant see this taking off as these things will cost a fortune to run.

thatguy they had something similar on VTTV. Dave reviewed this white thing that worked the same way, using tobacco. If you haven't seen it, its worth watching. I couldn't stop laughing when Dave was trying to get a puff out of it. Watching Dave trying to get anything out of it is hilarious.
But on a serious note, I agree with @johanino having these things come onto the market is going to re-enforce peoples perception that vaping is just smoking in another form. I just hope that it works so badly that it disappears very quickly as a complete failure.

The government don't want us vaping because they like the tax they get with people smoking they have lost millions of pounds in tax because of vaping. The government got to show they are helping people give up smoking but with the fail rate so high on other nicotine replacement products they dont care because most of them go back to smoking at the end of the day governments do not like losing money

The concept isn't really anything new and you already have the Ploom on the market.
Long before the Ploom (and ecigs) you had devices like the Iolite and Magic Flight Launch Box which work on more or less the same principle, but were more popular with cannabis users than cigarette smokers.
Vaporising tobacco and liquids was not invented by the dawn of the ecig and we don't own the concept. If this device opens people up to vaping rather than smoking tobacco then I really do not see a problem.

Must have been over three years ago I saw a review of the Iolite. May or may not be the same principle but I guess this way they still continue to sell tobacco. Much of the same risk reduction comes from it and there shouldn't be much if any second hand smoke. I can't see this affecting ecigs one bit. edit : nearly four years.

OMG, how bad is this. grrrrrrrr.
I tried "in vain" to explain to 2 youngsters (20 year old +/-) on Friday that i was NOT killing myself. They were so trying to tell me how BAD vaping was and how I'd still get cancer etc. Meanwhile they were both puffing away on manufactured ciggies and said, "Ah but I'm only 20, so it doesn't matter" Muppets.

I don't think its suspicious at all and makes very good sense.
Said it a million times before its not just the tobacco companies who make a very nice living out of smokers. The list is literally endless.
Someone even raised the point at a recent PHE meeting on ecigs and their possible effect on stop smoking services and funding.
You'd have to be pretty naive not to think that lost revenue isn't part of the overall equation.

What happens when people ( and they will ) mod these devices to basically burn the tobacco because the hit isn't there, then it's the SAME as smoking, if not worse as they don't have ant filters.
Governments want to allow this and ban vaping , it's ALL about the money , and things like this coming out and nothing is being said is only making this more obvious. It seems as the governments, tobacco producers, pharmaceutical companies etc etc etc think we are all 5 years old and believe everything they say.
One of my favourite saying is "Stupid people only gauge intelligence on their own level" , while the rest of us are sniggering behind their back.

Stupid! So people try this, it's like smoking a cig without the smoke, don't get anywhere and immediately go back to smoking.......Philip Morris makes huge amounts of money selling these, then sees an immediate increase once again in tobacco sales. Cynical? Me? Nah, never. However, someone in the EU will no doubt find a reason why these are ok, but vapes aren't!
Bizarre
