Tesco do a scan as you shop... Scan your club card, scan your shopping and pack it straight in your bags as you go round. Get to the special checkouts, that NEVER have any queues, scan the bar code on top of till and pay with whichever payment method you want... saves a good 20 minutes in the hell hole, of unpacking onto the belt and packing in your bags at the other end. How do they know if you have scanned everything in your bag? I'm thinking of a very large Tesco I know and there are a lot of well , no that sounds bad, put it another way, how do they know that you have not popped a joint of beef in the bag without scanning it?
Random security checks sammy13. You never know if you will be checked, and if you are, the assistant just scans a sample of your shopping to make sure you have scanned everything.

Tesco's/Sainsbury's do it by weight Sammy . . . so if they don't correspond, it generates a warning. No weighing for Scan as you shop Perps, just random security checks. I do it every Saturday morning for our weekly shop and I reckon I get a random check 1 in every 5 or 6 shops.

I've just remembered why I've been chuckling at this thread.

I was stopped in my own store, where I work, on Sunday just before I set the alarms off at the doors. It was a new security guard and had spotted my bottle of whisky sticking out of the bag still with it's security top on. Still wanted to see the receipt (fair enough) but I felt a right dick. Now the regular guards keep taking the pi** and stopping me whenever they see me, just for a laugh. Re the self-scan, must admit I only use them when I've got a couple of things, usually my sausage roll lunch from the deli. As long as there's a 'basket only' till open it's usually OK.

Had a couple today who were thrilled to have a re-scan . . . many aren't. These lovely customers, you'd think they'd just won the Lotto. Bless them.

Ok,you can imagine how bad is in Bulgaria....because I think everyone here in Scotland, staff in every shop I went ,are really really friendly and helpful ... I find there are good and bad staff in all supermarkets. Our local morries most are great from the young kids to the pensioners, the manager or shop floor manager whatever he is is a d**k though, even the staff hate him , and three times now I have seen someone punch him.
