My cat just WILL NOT STOP MEOWING. I've been off this week and staying in, with excursions out to the pub (as you do) but spending far more time at home than usual so.... Izzy has had a captive audience. AND SHE WON'T SHUT UP! Mew mew mew, tried ignoring her but that only works till she gets a pet then it's back to mewing all the time. I love her to bits, but for gods sake puss, shut the shit up!
Won't try to change her though, she's a happy kitty and that's what counts. But crikey tone it down puss!

She's just telling Daddy how much she appreciates his company.

I have similar issues with Jaffa my lunatic ginger tom. He is currently barred from the lounge due to his inability to understand that my leather settees are not convenient scratching posts so he spends most of his time wandering in and out of the kitchen via the garden, if all is quiet I don't hear a peep from him, however if I'm talking to someone or the TV is on he launches himself yowling at the kitchen door in an attempt to attract my attention, this is followed by pathetic baby like meowing. Honestly, anyone would think he is being murdered the racket he makes, I do show him a good measure of affection but he is a greedy swine.

osdset have you thought about putting a scratching post in the lounge. I have 7 cats and none of the scratch my leather settees. davetherayon, have you checked her for any sign of illness or sore areas as this could be the cause? She could just be telling you you are meant to be at work

She's 5 Chrissie. zeldamum I've patted around her to see if she reacts, but nothing out of the ordinary. Think it's a case of not responding every time she mews, and rewarding her when she's been quiet for a while. Need some cat treats now...

She seems disinterested in catnip andy01424, at least the packet stuff from PetsMart. Might get some of the fresh, strong catnip and see if she goes for it. Izzy talks in her sleep, letting out little 'eww's. Really think she's a chatterbox by nature!

I'm guessing that as she is 5 years old, she must be spayed, so not in season? And as she is relatively young, I doubt she has over active thyroid that can also cause a cat to constantly meow.

I have had a few, nothing like Chrissie, but a few over time, 3 was the most at one point. I love cats more than any other creature including humans. One though I raised he was a stray came to my doorstep in the snow, all black but so so tiny. He got spoilt rotten from that day onwards and boy he knew how to play on it. He loved yoghurt, but would he eat it normally - no I had to spoon feed him. He ate my budgie, did I yell at him no. He had a constant supply of whiskas, and cat treats, he also got fresh fish bits, and other stuff daily, but every morning around 4am he would jump on me in bed mewmewmew, he would paw me, I would get out of bed and he would sink his teeth into my ankle and drag me to the kitchen, he would then stop look up at me with his big eyes and get even more vocal meow, infront of me would be a bird or a mouse or whatever else he had brought home for mummy.

Got one that comes in the middle of the night soaking wet meowing his head off to say hello, another that snores worse than the wife and one that is just plain nuts! Need a kitten to stir things up lol
