Ok so 3 months in and having gone through some intense shineyitis I had settled down to what was for me a set up which worked and still does, batterywise I have a handful of 1100mAh ego style batteries and 2 x Vision 2 spinners. Tankwise I settled on the protank V2's and protank minis, with 1.8 single coils. I know I don't like polytanks at all nor do I like top coiled tanks, I prefer my vape to be cool and airey-ish so I have a couple of airflow controllers which I use whenever I feel like a change. For weeks now I have bought nothing but juice or just a few accessories (different coloured glass tanks, beauty rings, drip tips etc.) Every day I see threads and posts about various mods, I watch reviews, I spend hours just looking at different types of devices etc. Having started on the basic ego set up I was excited to move up/on to vv so did my research and went for the Spinner V2 and have been utterly underwhelmed. I've tried different juices, coils, power settings etc. and still end up on 3.8v which is the same as I get from my 1100 mAh ego's. anything above this and the juices either taste of nothing at all or have a metalicky kinda taste - not a burnt taste just metalicky (can't really describe it any better than that). But I kept on reading stuff about VW and how VW apparently is the "next step up" and so many people all having wow experiences making the switch etc. So I finally decided to get myself an MVP 2 - and I've been using it now for 24 hours and I'm not getting it I've tried lots of different juices, and 2 different coils 1.8 and 2.2 (all I have at the moment) and my "sweet spot" seems to be 6 watts with the exception of my super strong menthol which I must admit is nice at anything up to 9 watts. I vaguely understand that at 6 watts I'm getting more power/current whatever than I do from the egos or spinners but to me theres no appreciable difference between the taste or amount of vapor I get from using the ego's. So whilst the MVP will give me a longer time between charges it's not to my mind any better than my egos. Its also a lot less convenient for my lifestyle I can hang my egos round my neck and be handsfree everywhere I go, yes it means I need to take a case out with me with spares in but I have to take juice with me as the mini's need topping up several times over the course of a day so adding a back up battery is no hardship & I've been getting 8 hours at least from the 1100's. The MVP is far from being "handbag friendly" unless I buy myself a protective case to put it in. I don't take the spinners out with me either for much the same reason. The other mild irritation is that I only have 1 MVP so if I want to switch flavours that means taking off the tank I'm using and switching to another whereas normally I just have 4 different batteries on the go at the same time each with a different flavour so its just grab and go. What am I missing? Am I likely to find the same sort of experience from most mods? If so then I think I'll just stick with this little lot and replace the spinners when they eventually die with more 1100's. About the only thing that might be tempting to me in a MOD would be something thats the same sort of size as the egos but will take longer lasting batteries - does such a thing exist? Otherwise I think if anything it'll be tanks and coils that will probably be the things I will play around with rather than the power supply.

If you have already found a set up that works for you and your needs then you're not missing anything at all.
My personal preference is a Kayfun/Heron/Taifun on a 18500 mech mod coiled at 1.4 ohms with cotton/rayon wicks. I can still go for a day or two on an ego and mini protank though.
Its all about personal preference and whatever works for you works for you.
Some people like yourself are content with their current set up and others feel something is missing and would like to find a device that better suits their needs.
Others just love to buy & try the next best (best not meaning its better) thing.

snowI started off on a normal ego battery and ce4/5. I then moved onto a joyetech twist, vision spinner and evods. I then updated my tanks to mini protank 2. Each of those steps I found an improvement, although my dinky little 650mah ego is perfect for out and about when you are popping to the shops, it was supposed to be a spare for jollies but I love the size of it. I also bought an mvp, now I had tried one and wasn't overly impressed, but figured play with the settings it will be great. Nope I actually prefer the vape I get from my twist. My mvp is used as an ohms checker and as a last resort backup if needed. The only battery I have used ( not owned ) which I found completely blew them all away was a vtr. This could have been to whatever topper was on it or the setting , coil etc though.

I'd say that whatever gear you are happy with is great! I too still read up and research all the latest gear...but I don't feel like buying it! I just like to be well informed. I see vaping as my hobby and whilst I'm very content with what I have I like to know what gear is out there but it would take a lot more temptation to spend! Although saying that I've just done a £30 order from fasttech but thats basics; coils, bottles, heat shrink for batteries, atty stands and simple odd and sods I needed and I bought a decent ohms meter as I've been meaning to get one for ages...but they are normal basic running costs OK I have bought some stuff over the past year I really didn't need but now at least I know for sure what suits me and im a vv/vw kind of girl! mech mods aren't of huge interest although I do have 3 but one is my microstick - which is perfect for its size and usage when out and about and another is a 14500 with my dripper on, so thats for juice testing and although an ego might have done? its very pretty.... Anyways, less rambling, what I was meaning to say is sometimes you have to try new stuff to realise that it isn't for you and to know when you are happy with your gear. I'm happy with my provari mini and billet box and microstick as my mainstays. I have a selection of tanks, but only 3 or 4 styles/types as I'm not interested in confusing myself further... This doesnt mean I wont spend occasionally but now its more about spending time mixing and or tasting new juice on my vape budget as I'm happy with my mods as you seem to be faff free is good!

Weird how things taste isn't it with a different device.
I have a Vision spinner V1 , MVP V2 and a VTR V2 , and there are flavour difference with the same tank just changed over to the other mod.
First I tried all of them on volts at the same reading ( all done with a MPT2 , V2 air controller and Mt Baker Vapor Coumarin Pipe E-Liquid at 7 watts and 3.7 volts ) and the spinner and VTR were similar but the VTR was better , then on to watts and tried to match as near as I could the spinner to the other two. This time it was the spinner in 3rd, MVP in 2nd and VTR the best. So, to me , watts is better , BUT only a very slight difference between the spinner and the MVP then there was a bit of a jump to the VTR, better taste, not as metallic , better vapour just altogether smoother, and I can't put my finger on why , BUT when you get into something like the VTR you have batteries and a charger to think about , expense wise, having said that you can just take spare batteries with you and the 18650 isn't as big as you may think , the dimensions are roughly 65mm high by 18mm across. It's certainly smaller than another ego/spinner , but the VTR is a lot heavier to start with and isn't the most feminine product in the world. In my eyes the mod of choice for me at the moment would be a VTR that is smaller and lighter.

It really just boils down to do you want to make it a hobby or is just a means to an end. A vision spinner and a decent glass tank is more than adequate and will keep most of the cig gives. If that's all you want then stick with what you've got. Most, but certainly not all on here, like to buy the latest thing and that's fine too but it's really not required if it's only a means to an end for you. Me, I like to buy lots of stuff

This is interesting as I have always said the vtr is better, just from trying it out, but how can it be??? I need a vtr, that doesn't take separate batteries - I-e charges like an ego, mvp.

If the Kato was a VV/VW device I would be working all hours of the weekends to get one, but unfortunately it's a mech mod.
I can't even get a dripper to work properly at the moment with a VV/VW mod let alone with a mech one and I know that will take a lot more fiddling about with builds and more expensive tanks.
Don't get me wrong it's really good, but just not me , at this time.

I agree Andy, its a neat size but I'm not a massive mech mod lover, I accept mechanical for my microstick because that mod is miniscule and spheroids are perfect for it but I wouldnt pay out nowadays for a mech mod as they arent for me

it's funny i have ego's, then upgraded to V3 and noticed the difference, upgraded to mvp and vtr and noticed the difference again much better each time then i bought a zmax at VF and am in love i get a much better vape from the zmax than i do anything else i've got, and it's my mod of choice at the moment i can't put it down, although it doesn't like my aero tank and keeps shorting out with it but then my aero tank does that on my mvp and vtr think i' have a dodgy aero tank, when it works it's brilliant but when it doesn't it's the pits,

I'm about three months off the stinkies too. For me it's a means to an end (STAYING OFF THE FAGS) I have a couple of spinners, an innokin mvp, innokin itaste and protanks/ cheapo T3D's. I am finding that I prefer the innokin stuff to the spinners lately though. I've found two or three juices I like from Joose Juice and plan to sample a few more. I think the only other thing I would like to try is a Naturevape coil, but I'm not convinced I would be able to rewick it myself My new hobby seems to be watching You Tube vids and reading vaping forums but tbh I don't think I need all the all singing all dancing vaping gear.
