A month of the year to encourage others to start vaping and stop smoking. It could be suggested to other fora and vendors, a prime opportunity to increase the numbers of vaping. Just a thought . . .

I think it's a great idea just not sure of the mechanics of how to spread the word external to the vaping world.

This really is an awesome idea - and as you say, it could do wonders for the existing vape community with regards to awareness - a chance for people to realize that vaping is actually a friend and not a foe I'd be happy to asist in any way to lay the foundations to get this idea off the ground

Maybe a new thread is in order ionian to get the ideas flowing. I like the idea but implementation is going over my head so far. But I'm all for spreading the word. I've said lately that all this campaigning is pointless in my view as it targets the govt and media, maybe the statement is a bit too harsh but I really believe the target should be smokers rather than govt etc. Another reason for a new thread is we are spoiling wibble thread Oh but hold on wibble was the inspiration for the suggestion, oh I'm lost carry on

I'm happy for others to run with it if they want! sorry for the thread hijack wibble

We didn't pick a date. We heard about ecigs, did a bit of research, gave it a go and here we both are a year and a half later.
Sent from me from some far away land.

I quit ciggies on my birthday. I didn't think about what I was doing, I just did it.
Contrary to what some may believe setting a specific date was made easier by it being a 'special' day. If I'd set any other day I would probably have struggled a lot more.

Weird isn't it.. I knew about vaping and I'd bought a groupon £9.99 offer for a skycig starter kit. It did me OK for the occasional trips away and in nonsmoking hotels but a cigarette replacement? hell no!
But then one of the mums at football had an ego and ce4 tank and she seemed to be doing OK on it so I went and ordered a debang starter and it was a damn sight better than the cigalike, I could see there was a chance I could quit using these....I kept seeing adverts for 'Stoptober' and it was already about a week into the month but I thought I'd try vaping for the month
I live on the internet so I looked about for an e-cig forum, I knew that I needed to learn more about successful vaping and get a support system in place.I found a few forums but they appeared American based and I didn't fancy falling for gear and juice that wasn't available in the UK so I came across AAEC and it ticked all my boxes, that was 10 months back.
I found out that the lull at teatime could be fixed with variable voltage and iclear16's were fairly faff free so I plumped for an itaste vv and the single one did me fine for 6 weeks (with the basic ego as a spare) but most of the time I just vaped through the single battery and tested out every flavour and pg/vg ratio joosejuice marketed.
I didnt plan to quit, I didn't want to pressure myself by openly stating to all that i was going to quit smoking, and although starter vaping wasn't totally simple and straightforward it wasn't hideously difficult? You do need a certain amount of willpower and focus to changeover and learn some basic e-cig maintenance but its the best smoking cessation (that isn't promoted) on the market today!

I never meant to quit smoking, it happened by accident. I was having a bit of a cashflow crisis and decided to buy a cigalike to stick in my packet of fags. The idea was that every so often I'd use the cigalike instead of a fag as a means of making a pack go further. Very quickly I noticed that I was vaping more than smoking until one day I forgot to smoke. Then I found AAEC, bought a starter kit, yadder yadder....

So I gave up on 17th May .. why - it was the day after we came back from a holiday where friends were vaping, we ordered our starter kits on line the day we got home and they arrived on 17th May so that's when we gave up ? Did you chose your date to give up for any reason or was it just by chance like mine ? Never picked a date and I think picking a date is the worst thing anyone could do.
That makes it like you are getting forced into it. Get your gear together, try it dual fuel maybe, let it be a natural progression. Tell a smoker/ drinker/ drug addict you have to quit on x date, big mistake

The birth of my son was the driving force behind me stopping on 11th dec 2011. He was born 3 months later. Funnily enough I used traditional nrt for 3 months before taking up vaping as the nrt wasn't doing it for me. I'd be smoking agian now if not for vaping.

No special date for me either - my girlfriend's sister used to give me a shot on her ego set up if we were all in the pub and it was raining outside to save me going out for a smoke and I just thought I should get one to save using her's all the time. Did a bit of research into what was out there and where to get it and when it turned up that was more or less that.

Yep, the day I ran out of baccy, having purchased a riva 1100 kit.
Didn't choose the date or time to give up, but that very date and time is another reason why I'll never touch a ciggie again.
That day was 31 march last year, and on a stoke of luck (Mrs fred saw me do it!), I put my last rollie out at 1:13 pm. There's gotta be something in those numbers:
