So I gave up on 17th May .. why - it was the day after we came back from a holiday where friends were vaping, we ordered our starter kits on line the day we got home and they arrived on 17th May so that's when we gave up ? Did you chose your date to give up for any reason or was it just by chance like mine ?

No planned date for me. I'd given up many times before and I hadn't smoked at work (offshore) for 8 years but smoked at home as my wife smoked. No I'm certainly not blaming her but the temptation was there when nog at work. I thought about ecigs many times but thought of it as just another gimmick. Then one day my wife said she would like to try an ecig to give up smoking and neither of us have looked back since I'm really not sure why but I bought a little ego 650 and ce5 starter kit and from day 1 never needed or wanted a cigarette. My wife dual fuelled for a month or so then quit altogether. The rest as they say is history. Unless something we don't yet know is discovered or the idiots get their way this invention has got to one of the best in the last 100 years or more.

Just by chance. Fancied trying it for ages then spotted a couple of ego twists complete with kanger tanks on ebay so decided to put a bid on a couple of them thinking I'm bound to win one and ended up with them both now if I can just find my adv I'll be happy.

Nope, wibble, 13th September 2012 was simply the day that my starter kit arrived in the post! The beginning of the rest of my life, I like to think

I'd made an agreement with a mate who had started vaping that if he could stay off the fags for 3 months than I would also give it a go. 3 months later he held me to my word and duly escorted me to a shop in town where, following his advice, I purchased a VV spinner and a mini divide tank along with 3 10ml 24mg bottles of hangsen RY4. That was at the beginning of January this year and for no other reason than I felt this habit that I had had for nearly 40 years was under control, I took my last cigarette on 23/01/2014. Since that date I have never even wanted to light up again. After going through a multitude of set ups (shineyitus took hold well and truly) I am now happy with my set up of a Provari, a Gizmo and a Itaste vv3 used solely with spheroids. I can put this down entirely to the amazing advice and information contained within this forum. I now mix my own juice, again down to the mixing section on here and have even trimmed my juices down to 3 flavours that satisfy me.
So, I didn't really have a 'special' date and think it was by chance that I discovered the life changing effect of vaping.

No special date for me either - to be honest it wasn't my idea at all it was my hubby, short version of the story is that I'd been "researching" vaping for years but had never taken the plunge for various reasons, but I'd bored my hubby and family to death with talking about doing it. We were trying to kill time as our grandson had just been born and we were waiting to be allowed to go see him for the first time in SCBU so we'd been staying in a hotel and were bored stiff and a bit tense etc. so we'd gone to see some old friends but still had a few hours to kill - unknown to me hubby had spotted a B&M vape shop on our way over there which I'd mentioned to him in passing a few weeks before joking along the lines of "shame it hadn't been there when we still lived in the village" so as we were coming back to the hotel he suddenly stopped the car and told me to go in the shop and just give it a try with no pressure or commitment to buy - in fact he suggested that I try and NOT buy but come home and get a kit online if I liked it. Went in the shop, tried an ego set up with various juices, liked it, bought a starter kit and never looked back.

No special date for me, can't even remember when it was, just decided enough was enough, joined UKV1 got some good advice & never looked back. Wife & Sister followed suit a few weeks later, only ex-smokers in the family now.
I had a huge stash of smokes in the house from family & friends holidays abroad when i packed up, i sold the lot except for 1 x 20 pack (that probably funded us for the first 18 months or so) i put that 20 pack of smokes in the glovebox & kept them there for over 2yrs before i finally chucked them with 17 still in the pack.

Nope, no special date - was the 1st Feb this year. A couple of weeks earlier my brother had bought a starter kit and not smoked since getting it. I never had any intention of giving up smoking (even though I always knew I should, I just didn't want to). So, I bought the same starter kit - just to see what it was about - and from that day on I haven't smoked!! Quite incredible really

Two of my colleagues were giving up for Stoptober, and so I decided to do the same. They both went cold turkey, but I knew I needed something else having given up twice before, both times for around 9 months. I did some research, found this forum, ordered my starter kit and haven't had a cigarette since it arrived. That was 1st October 2013.
I wonder if the community should organise something similar, specifically for vaping? 6 months after Stoptober could be Vapril...
Incidentally, my two colleagues did really well cold turkey, but both have slipped back into the occasional social smoke. Nothing to beat themselves up about, but it's a slippery slope. I have tried but failed to convince them that vaping is the way forwards, but they feel it would be "cheating". They'll learn in time that it's the result that matters, not the method.

Been around vapeing for a while as my brother in law is heavily into if . For my birthday they got me a decent ego kit and a few juices. I had a play with it looked at it suspiciously and poked it on the shelf. 29 the April I picked it up and had a fiddle with it changed juice and that was it i kind if went off the stinkies by accident. Never had a stinkie since. Up to that point quitting hadent really crossed my mind, and it wasn't until I realised I'd been vapeing for a week and not though about a analogue that I joined here got myself a MVP and learned a heck if a lot mixing coiling and got infected by that damed shinyitis bug that is so prolific on here.

I tried for years to quit the stinkies - and failed every time. But after the heart attack, my sis' brought me an Ego - C into the Cardiac Unit and my vape journey began before I even left the hospital! So my introduction to the vape world was quite random and came without warning -

What do others think? I'm unsure what the suggestion is although I do like the name. Stotober is a national campaign initiative so what would Vapril be, I don't see any value to it being restricted on AAEC as everyone here has already signed up so to speak.
