MarkS no worries at all. A bit off topic but I was given my engagement ring back at 7am this morning after a near 8 year relationship! All is OK again now but it has been a very upsetting and stressful day up here to mate. Shit happens eh!! Hmmmmmmm well the pin on my svd is a springy one, so much so that when I clean the contact I actually give it a little push in and out with a pen or toothpick just to make sure it is still springing up n down. Maybe they are different or maybe mine was modified before? Try it and let me know as I'm bloody curious now. Ha ha. I didn't know the definition of floating pin was adjustable from the inside so I won't use that term again. There is so much to learn and remember with this gaping malarkey, gone are the days of just, roll, filter set fire and smoke lol. Thank you for coming back to me though as I got rather upset too as you can imagine . Peace Ruffie

Just reading around the net and it seems some say the SVD pin is solid and others say it is spring loaded. Mine is definitely not springy at all.
Can only think that older models were not spring loaded.
Sorry to have upset you, but I'm sure the SVD I sold JMW wasn't spring loaded either so the advice was given in good faith. If it was a spring loaded model then maybe the advice was daft after all.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a spring loaded one though.

Told you yah learn something new every day here. And yes jmw2309 you are a total nugget for breaking it and making mark and I upset each other, you should be ashamed of yourself !!!! I AM JOKIING of course, please don't come back at me for that. It's a bloody shame that it's gone and broke on you. I have seen pics of someone replacing the white insulator on the pin. There must be a way to fix it up with an old ego pin or something. As with all these though, I think the struggle is getting the top cap off. Wish you all the best of luck. Last apology to you for a total train wreck of a thread. Peace and paws out Ruffie
