I did wonder about the hole Gordy as it is very small. I haven't used it for a while so it will have dried up a bit anyhow. I'll try just making the hole bigger. I thought the point of the flange was to keep it all leak proof - so you and Blakey are saying a normal carto will fit tight enough?

the flange jusr stops the tank slipping down the carto, with the drip tip stopping it moving up. some tanks can move about quite a bit and you have to take care with them.
the Arry tanks design eliminates any movement btw

Nice picture of the Smok tank, now that hole on that carto is the absolute perfect size you should make in a cartomiser when using thin juices.Ive tried most carto tanks now and the one thats head and shoulders above the rest is the Arry V3.Ive put about 100ml through the tank now and its been an absolute joy to use.Great thread Gordy which will really help noobs to the carto tanks.

I've read that the flavours are muted. This is a bit of putting since I find the flavours are already muted on cartos anyway. How have other people found this?

I'm glad I am not the only one who finds this - there is also a guy on UKV who mentioned this bit of reduction in flavour. Normally though I find cartomisers (the LR ones) absolutely fine. Especially after Ian's comment I don't think it can be the size of the hole, so will try using one of the cartos I like in the tank. They are such a great idea I really want to get this working well for me.

some people dont like the taste from a carto but i have never had a problem with them and in fact the flavour is much better in a tank as you get the freshly filled hit every time.
ok there are certain thicker liquids that dont seem to work in cartos but by using a dcc with a bigger hold i have managed to get these working sweetly too

I can only speak from my own experience Evan and say that I've found most Tank systems do mute the flavour of your juice to a degree . . . but you've to weigh that up against the convenience factor a Tank has.
The exceptions to that are the GG systems and a Arry Carto Tank with a Kanger, I've found anyways.

this maybe the reason i love this method so much. i dont like strong or medium strength flavours. this method might help those who are looking for a more cigarette type taste. ive just ordered a v3 from arry so i can give that a go as well. im really happy to have found this method and it really has improved my vaping enjoyment ten fold. ive only used lr 510 boges and at present see no real need to try anything else.

To be honest i think the flavour from a Boge cartomiser in a tank is absolutely great. As Gordy says the filler is always kept moist so the flavour is always there for me.I use 100% PG juice mainly and find with a tiny 1mm hole i get constant great wicking and a brilliant vape.I love the Arry V3 and IMHO its a cartomiser tank which should last you for life without any issues whatsoever. Also you can put ANY juice in the tank without fear of your tube cracking as its not polycarbonate.

I have the Challenger tank, the ones with that use the Flange,at first I thought it was great but flavour went weak after prob just one day, I have tried various juice in there and have decided it is best used with a menthol. I want to try another tank system but cant decide which yet, they all seem to have good and bad points. I am still searching.

the key to carto tanks is to get the hole the correct size for the juice so that the carto gets enough supply ...they're a bit of trial and error but once you have it mastered they work fantastic

I was thinking of doing that Gordy until I saw Ian's post about it being the ideal size! Still, the alternative is to bin the carto so I'll have a go at that. For the last two days though I have been using a clearo tank I got from Ian (I think its one that arry did a while ago). I am finding this very good and this time no loss of flavour, so I'm really pleased I've found that a tank can work for me!
