Hiya, after 4 months wait my brand new microstick from Chels has arrived. Now I have owned a microstick before and am reasonably familiar with how it works, although my original one was an earlier model, 2nd batch. I've got this one unpacked and put in a fresh battery and recently recoiled spheroid (2.1omhs) and ...theres no life from it. I've twiddled and fiddled and tweaked the button, have tried the battery upwards and downwards and different batteries, my nipple topped efests and torchy batteries, but still nothing. I've tried 4x spheroids, a grail dripper and a viva nova. I've removed the base plate, added extension, removed extension, checked the brass bar is seated correctly and still = nothing. I do have a meter, but I don't actually know where to press my probes to check power I even checked it didn't come with plastic covering over contacts (well you never know!) but no..... I don't mind being proved a complete idiot but I cannot think what I could have done wrong, I cant be the only person out of a 400 run to not have it working straight off the bat? There isnt a suitable smiley available to show my crushing disappointment

Its broken Pepperty - send it to me for disposal Basically you want to put the meter probes on the 510 connector, one to the centre pin and one to the outside threads Set the meter to DC volts and press the button, Shouldn't matter which way round you put the probes if its a digital meter, it should either show 4.2 volts or -4.2 volts

Oh Pepperty and just to add - dont short the meter probe from the centre connection to the outer edge or sparks will ensue

theres two probes, a red one and a black one...... ??? does it matter which way I do it? If its a digital meter it wont matter - it will just show a negative voltage if they are backwards - no harm done Just remember not to let any probe short across

The pic of your meter isnt that clear but one lead (black) into the bottom hole marked as com Red lead looks to be middle hole Turn switch 3 clicks to the left from the off position to where it says 20 and you should be good to go

thanks charliehorse and Ripshod and youtube. It says (as you pointed out) black lead in 'com' I've stuck a probe on the brass middle bit and poked the other on outer metal bit. still reads 0.00 (i pressed the leads together before doing that - no change. I did it with button of microstick pressed and unpressed. no change

Sounds like the switch isnt making contact on the battery then, does it feel like its connecting/hitting the battery when you push it ??
Flat top battery ? if so can you try a button top ?

maybe switch the switches between the new one and old one, if the new switch works on the old microstick then that rules out the possibility that the switch might be faulty stopping the new one working

I've played with the button over and over, you can adjust the throw and how long it is by screwing a brass button looser, sometimes i've dropped it too low and can't screw in fully as battery in way - so I'm fairly sure it isn't that?
I'll take off teh base plate again and double check the brass bar that runs from bottom of battery compartment to base of 510 fitment. Be back soom --- bloody allen key fitment
