no I don't have the old one, I could afford to keep both, I just assumed brand new mean no issues - I'm a fool! Nothing untowards underneath, seems as tightened as it can possibly go I cant even cry a lot and drink copious amounts of vodka to numb my pain......son needs a lift home in a couple of hours

Just a thought, does the battery sit on a spring at the bottom or is it this brass bar you talk about ? If its the brass bar try a button top battery in button side down, battery may not be making contact on the bar. Hope you get it sorted soon, I'm just about to head off from work but i'll try and check back later though i'm sure others will help

alas, I've tried the battery in both ways and I only have button topped, although my efests are a mm longer so have tried both. The microstick is somewhat back to front, spring sits under button at top, connecter bar lies across base as a connector between power from battery and 510 connector inside other compartment. Thanks for talking me through, I probably should give up for today as its giving me a headache

I'd imagine one end of the brass flat bar has to connect to the brass central 510 connector but from the picture it doesn't seem possible. Is that brass 510 connector adjustable, can it be screwed down so it protrudes lower ? there must be someone on here wise in microstick set up

mmm. Looking in closup if that brass section in the centre is recessed it looks a little skew-wiff, as in totally out of line. That is definitely where the trouble is tho. Good spot Greg, you may be bang on.

The brass bar is ridged in a moulded slot, general idea is that it presses against the brass knob underneath the 510 connector and when you press fire button it pushes a brass screw (under top fire button) to connect to battery which pushes battery onto that bar and then to the brass knob under 510 connector. Its very hard to see by eye if everything is marrying up and I have twiddled with everything as best I can.. surely it cant be me who'd get a faulty one? I mean thats fate having a laugh I cant even put a screw in place without cross threading On a good note, Ive collected son - I now plan to drink and wail

Can the brass 510 be screwed down at all so it's closer to the brass bar ?

Pep, the brass part under the 510 should be protruding- this vid shows how it should be fitting. ignore the fact that its about the extension and look at the base

OH in the name of... AGHHHH no! the brass nubbings actually seems to screw but pulled out a bit? - its like its flapping in the fricking wind? I am so sick of undoing and redoing those two tiny allen screws. I had to push it back a little as the base wouldnt go in recessed as it should.
