totally emotionally wrung out gill2009 I cant believe how upset i've been and how fed up of undoing screws and untwisting....

The only thing that kept me going was knowing there had to be a fix out there, I surely couldn't be the only one out of a whole run to have the dodgy model. The lads here have been brilliant keeping ideas flowing and knowing that kl34 now had a working MS ......

I have just caught up, and glad to see its working Pepperty, well done.
So what was it ? the brass pin or was it dropping it that got it going?

har har, obviously me being electrocuted is the answer to everything!

the brass pin seems to have been the issue? took 3 or 4 times juggling it down and getting base screwed into position but it's firing!

The problem was that the anodising covers more than needed. What we'll do?
 - we'll clarify the specification for the anodosing company
 - we'll test each MicroStick before the shipping
Currently we test several out of the batch.

This exact problem is reproduced only if the conenctor is fully screwed in. Unscrew it half a turn and the MicroStick will fire. That's why we haven't noticed this in time. My apologizes to all who had to spend time solving the problem.

Come on crack on and get it fixed. If you have no wire just skip it and whip the 510 out again and give all threads a good clean. It seems there's a little aluminium corrosion going on in the threads causing the issue as per kl34 findings, cleaned up thoroughly and now his is working fine 

It's not a corrosion. This white powdry is not isolating. The problem is that you just need to slightly unscrew the conenctor to make a connection.
