Quick question

I'm about to embark on my 1st ever D.I.Y mix. Is one 10ml bottle of everything enough just for a trial ?

Yes I only ever mix 10mls for a first time mix.

Remember custard takes a few weeks to steep, good luck

Thanks Karma. I wasn't too sure if I maybe needed larger amounts of the flavourings.

10ml of flavourings will give you ample . . . for several mixes taz96.

In a 10ml trial mix, the largest volume you'll use is 2.5ml of VC. Though it could be worth mixing a larger bottle, given the time it takes to steep.

Fully agree with @peratua if you like custards you will love lovechild.
Just mix a 40ml bottle, so it uses the full 10ml of flavouring.
You will kick yourself if you make 10ml, wait 4 weeks, discover it's lovely and have to wait another 4 weeks for the next batch lol.
On a mix you are not sure of, then just do a 5ml sample, so if you dont like it you are not out alot.
But lovechild is tried and tested

Hmmm, not sure quite what to do. I vape accies ambrosia almost exclusively having tried a number of shop bought custards that I really didn't like. It's not so much the money as the whole "what if I don't like it " thing.

I loved GVC the first time I tried it. Now I can't stand it...lol.

Anyway I have a day or two before my order arrives to have a think about it.

I'd say go with 10ml, its better to be waiting a month for more than have buckets of the stuff and you may hate it.......... its unlikely but theres a million other flavours to distract you if you mix up more after testing 1st sample bottle

Pepperty that's more kinda what i was thinking. How soon could I give a try do you reckon just to get an idea if it's gonna be to my liking ?
I know it will take a month at least to mature properly though.

I myself do 5ml mixes if unsure whether i will like it or not, binning a 5ml mix is not as bad as binning a 10ml mix.

I'm still looking for the perfect custard, my CLC is a few weeks old now and its nice, but still not nice enough, I mixed 30ml to start, it wont go to waste because I like it, but it's not perfect (for me), trouble is I cant put my finger on what it needs to MAKE it my perfect custard

I made my first last week and used the recipe Perpetua has listed for the custard, but I used CCW Custard as that was what as used in 'The custard challenge' thread.
Just tried it this morning and its creamy and rich in taste. Much more flavour than what I had been using. Yummy

It's a good plan taz96.


Take your time and you're less likely to make mistakes . . . and importantly, enjoy the mixing process.


Get a couple of successful brews under your cauldron and you'll be away.

I just made up my second batch, 6 flavours x25ml and it was much easier this time.
Consentrate, Nic base, PG with the same syringe
Then a bigger syringe for the messy VG
Label
repeat x6
Job done.

you will be fine taz96 - the more often you do it - the easier it gets - when hubby the first time said : why don't you mix yourself ? I was - now I don't know anymore why

btw - yep do 10ml at the beginning
