Anyone tried one of these ?

just ordered one, worth a try for under £8.

it looks like you be able to wrap a coil under tension very easily thus negating the requiring to torch your wire to achieve a tight microcoil.

ill post up the results if it works   If not I won't

There have been some good reviews for these if they had a 2-3mm rod i would have grabbed one by now.

I have one. I paid more than that and it was worth every penny. I use the 3mm rod all the time.

wouldn't a thing-a-ma-jig be slightly better for mod destroying purposes only?

Seen a video from an american fellow some time ago (don't know where so can't link) he put a bolt and wing nut in the handle bit, looked like he got really good microcoils.

It's quicker to make one than wait for delivery IMP, this is better than the e-cig specific ones that you have to wrap the wire around rather that turn the former. Turning the former is much better you can keep the tension high and even.

I don't have any material to make nod and for £7 it's not worth the faff even if I had stuff. I'm not in any rush and it'll get here at some point this week

You can just tape the kanthal to the screwdriver and turn the screwdriver, most important thing is even tension (high tension preferably) and warping this way it is easier to get them tight. Like Super X Drifter (discoverer of the micro coil) does here:
