...and CHILDREN... they shouldn't be allowed in restaurants (or at the same resort as me on holiday)

I personally think that smoking, even vaping, should not be allowed in restaurants. (Indoors that is) But, you have to allow for local customs. It's obnoxious..just like loud conversation or boisterous behaviour on the next table. I much prefer to eat at home. I do agree that smoking and vaping should not be allowed in restaurants. Even vaping does have an odour i dont think its fair to inflict that on peope eating. In other public places banning vaping is daft as although you can smell it, it does not impregnate clothing like smoking does and do others halm ( i dont care what the media say ). After all there are plenty of people out there who wouldn't know what a bar of soap was if it hit them on the head, and no one wants to ban smelly gits from public places do they, hmm or maybe they do

I have noticed the smell is very, very strong, but I've just spent a weekend with 3 smokers and just felt slightly smug! Didn't preach, didn't suggest they switch, just happened to mention strawberry custard, vanilla coffee, lemon sorbet, and let the odd wisp pass them by! Strange really, I also am on the side of smokers who want to smoke and who feel so blummin persecuted Live n let live, just could you stand a bit further down wind please

since I quit smoking I can smell the cigarettes on others - yuk - but as I did this for 34 years - I never say something - and if it's outdoors it does not bother me too much - but even when I was still smoking I quite liked the smoking ban in pubs and restaurants - it can get too much - I would not vape in restaurant now - even if it's allowed - however i am very happy that I can vape in our local pubs - and when I see somebody eating there I just wait till they have finished - anyhow with vaping I noticed that I am faaaaaaaaaar less desperate than I was with smoking

Nope. Not at all. But then again, I didn't really want to stop smoking in the first place. I just prefer vaping as a method of nicotine delivery. I can see how it might be more difficult for some people though. I guess it help that I still smoke when abroad. How come you still smoke when you go abroad? Why would you do that? Because I aint allowed to use ecigs on the rigs.

I'm not anti at all, it just compounds the fact that vaping is so darn good, as I can still get my fix, but am accepted by more folk, as I don't stink. I really don't like the smell now though & when sat outside a bar, not keen on getting a lungful of smoke along with my RA. When I was a smoker, ex smokers were the worst & I swore I would never be like that.

Even when I smoked I was very happy when smoking was banned in pubs etc.
I never smoked around people eating because it's truly vile. You're trying to enjoy food and are inundated with this vile smell and taste. It's disgusting and thoughtless.
I remember being out with my little cousin. He was tiny. Around a month old. He was due a bottle and the only place around was a Sayers cafe. I grabbed a cuppa and sat down. The place was completely empty besides me and the babs.
I was just getting his bottle ready when this woman comes and sits at the table next to me. And lights a cigarette.
PC or not, nice or not I went mental at her. The entire place was empty and she chooses to sit next to a tiny baby and light up. I'm sorry love but that's 100% unacceptable and I told her so.
When I smoked I never smoked with kids around. I never smoked of anyone was eating. I never smoked inside the house. Mine or anyone else's. I didn't feel the need to inflict my second hand smoke on anyone else. And think other smokers should do the same. Especially with kids.

Jerri, I quite agree with you. It's really not fair to inflict things on others, be it smoke or vapour, that they don't want. And I think that's the problem these days; vapers think that because it's far less harmful than smoking then it's their God-given right to vape just where they want to, regardless of how others feel about it. We need to learn to be tolerant, or more people will turn against us despite to obvious benefits to us and our loved ones. I now make a point of standing up-wind of smokers, and try to discreetly stand as far away from them as possible. Having said that, most of my work colleagues who used to smoke now vape - there's only one left out of 6, and he's now seriously considering giving it a go! I think that as our noses and taste regains its effectiveness, we are starting to notice tobacco smoke more; only seldom now do I think that a newly-lit cigarette smells nice, most of the time it's just plain revolting. Sure, ex-smokers are the worst, but I count myself as one, having yesterday passed my 2-year anniversary!!!!

I don't vape inside restaurants/pubs etc. I don't vape in people's houses. I don't vape around kids or when people are eating etc. The only exception is I do vape in my house. And I would never smoke on the house.

And I would never smoke on the house. Exactly the same here. When I'm at work I tend to go sneaky vape in the toilets, mainly so I don't have to stand outside with the smokers for fear of relapsing back to the cigarettes. It seems like an eon ago we were allowed to smoke indoors in public places, but even where I do see people vaping in the pub, I don't do it. I'm sure alot of places don't know what to do about it so just let them get on with it. But I'm 100% there will be a ban indoors incoming though so best not to get used to being able to do it. As far as others wanting to smoke. After two days back vaping I couldn't stand the smell again. I would never give them any hassle about it though. Bit hypocritical in my book! Smoking in a restaurant.. :/ why would you anyway!? I'm more surprised they still allow it.

I smoked for 41 yrs and have vaped for nearly 2yrs now, the thing that makes me smile is when i smell tobacco on others and think what it is doing to their pockets/purses and remember how much i have saved by vaping inc covering the cost for my son to learn to drive and spend last christmas holiday in new york, i don't like the smell but i can live with it as its not in my home so let them get on wth it and just remember who is healthier them or you? Happy Vaping to All of You

I first noticed not being able to stomach the smell of cigarettes when on the ferry crossing last year. Now this was on the open deck where the smoking area was, couldn't stay out there long, which is a shame as it was a beautiful morning (approx 4.30am) Q that's why our ferry crossing was the 4am jobby, not many parents want their little darlings to be woken up at that time, and yes I have had children, I describe my eariler life as bc (before children).
