In this case anyway, it's the juxtaposition of them.

You would think they would be able to spell in Farnborough There doesn't seem to be anybody doing proof-reading anymore, the amount of spelling mistakes is getting worse, in fiction books especially, think the lack of teaching the 3 Rs in primary school and bad parenting is mainly to blame.

Particularly as Salesian College is (or at least was, when I was at school) a very well respected, posh RC boys school. I remember some of the lads in 6th form went there.

American spelling of certain words by American authors is not the problem, I think a lot of us can understand the difference, it is bad spelling in the print, and occasionally even incorrect use of grammar, that is the problem

Never noticed this in a printed book?

I have seen the odd word like that, but the type of thing I find in printed books is incorrect word usage such as there their they're, and I doubt this is down to the author, rather it is being transcribed incorrectly, or being changed by stupid spell checkers, the latter has happened to most of us.

Well none till they got the Tat anyhow Actually I'm wondering if the tats are intentionally ironic. On second thoughts that's way too deep, maybe all involved are just thick as pig muck
