Ok now I've done it. I've ordered a starter kit from the alchemists cupboard as a way to get into mixing. All of you who have encouraged members on this board to get into it do not know what you've let yourselves in for so please be patient icon_nervousI am now waiting on my kit arriving and will no doubt be bombarding the site with questions when it does. Already I'm wondering if I should get sweetener? Why and how do I use it? Being me I've not put a drop of liquid in a bottle and I'm already looking at various sites at their concentrates and wondering about them LOL.

Don't worry about the questions bonnieboy, we're happy to help! What kind of flavours do you like? A bottle of sweetener is a good idea if you like fruits and desserts. TPA's is a good one, you just add a little (1% ish) either when you make the recipe or after you have tasted it if you feel it could do with a little oomph on the sweetness front. I would suggest picking a few recipes and get the concentrates needed for those, then you can add to your collection as you go on

I picked 7 recipes (I tried to get it down but 7 was the fewest I could bear ) and bought the concentrates for them, it has been 4 days since I mixed them and I am looking to try the applemint and lemonmint in the next day or so, the rest will require severe patience!! I have to keep away from cupcake world as I could easily buy about 200 of their 300 flavours and I would require a bigger cupboard for them all. Good luck with your mixing

To be truthful I'm thinking about having a go at just making up the vanilla custard and blackberry to start off with to get into it before I attempt a recipe. Don't know why as I follow cake recipes all thetime

Don't know why as I follow cake recipes all thetime If you like custard, then you have to give the Custardy Lovechild recipe a bash. Mixing is much easier than baking - you don't have to worry about different steps or adding the ingredients in a particular order... just tick each ingredient off the recipe list as soon as you've added it. Put the lid on, give it a good shake and stick it in a drawer or cupboard for 6 weeks

bonnieboy have you tried TJ red Astaire. It's very popular. You could get some of that in concentrate and its needs no steeping at all. That way you have some gorgeous juice you've made yourself and you won't be quite so tempted to break into the custard too early

See this is what worries me I'm going to end up with a cupboard full of bottles and ingredients before I've even started . I have looked several times at red Astaire and also other concentrates from TJ but I cannot get them all, well not the first week any way LOL
