Vape Friendly Places Thread? Got legs?

I was just thinking, would it be a good idea to have a thread, perhaps a sticky somewhere, where people could list venues that they've found that accept vapers?

We have members from all over, and say if someone was going on holiday or away for business and didn't know the area, they could look up vape friendly places and know there wouldn't be a problem there. 

I know the thing to do in most circumstances if just to ask if it would be ok, but some people might be a bit shy in that regard! (Me, for one!)  Also, new vapers might find others who vape more easily in a social setting and not feel so self conscious, and therefore more likely to feel encouraged rather than put off.

I thought I'd ask what people thought here first rather than just start a thread, as I don't go out much and haven't actually been anywhere where I can vape yet!

Actually, thinking about this as I type, what would be better to access would be a map, similar to the one we use for showing locations of members.  As we already have the technology as it were, for a map, that might be easier to implement and not too much extra work for admin?

I'd be happy to offer my services, such that they are, for inputting data as it comes in?  Unless it could be accessed by individuals somehow, as new places were found, to add to the map as we go?

Or maybe it could be a regional database?

Just a thought.  What do you think?  Got legs?

Would be great if it didn't create a mountain of work for admin tho... (still thinking bout this lol) Wish I knew more about how the site worked! You could be a great contributer ronaldo - you've been everywhere!!!

I was at the local hospital yesterday, smoking has been banned in the grounds for some time, now they've added e-cigs to their posters

misst the maps I set up for members & e-cig shops are google maps. They aren't part of the forum software, anyone can set one up

There is a map of sorts here www.communitywalk.com/map/index/637607 I don't think that it's very up to date though. Some of the places are not vape friendly and there's a lot missing that are.

It would be great if we could have a list by area that we could all add to purely for vapers, but, I wouldn't know how to go about it.

Well found taz96 We did indeed have a thread with that map in it. However, a couple of years or so ago, Community Walk maps became compromised & therefore a security risk, so I removed all links to them. I'm fairly certain there are no longer issues with them, so one of their maps could be used again

The 2 maps I started for the forum (Members & B&M shops) are both Google maps. However, Google Maps are in the process of updating to a completely new platform so at the moment I'm it's going to be as new to me as anyone else. I have just set up one of their new maps as a test map to play with.

I'm a tad busy in real life over the next couple of days (mainly with helping a couple of neighbours with lifts to places etc.) But I should be able to have a good play with the new maps by the weekend at the latest. From what I've already sussed out, the new maps look a lot easier to add to than the old platform.
