As the postie struggles up the path with my supplies as I get ready to start my adventures of mixing , a thought crossed my mind. I know there will be a deal of gratification and pleasure if I get it right and am able to produce liquids that will be tailored to my taste, but as I look at the bottles, liquids, concentrates etc. etc. mounting up I wondered if I am actually going to save any money. Oh I know I will save money from when I used to smoke stinkies if I can stop buying shinies ;-|but how does mixing your own compare with ready made. I know there are a lot of variables such as what strength nicotine you use, how expensive your concentrate is, how much you use and how many you use in a mix but I wondered if someone cleverer than me had looked at it and estimated a ball park figure of costs. Its not really going to make a difference as I'm going to have a go anyway but I just wondered? ???

Last time I tried to work it out the result was about 75pence for 10ml.
As you say there are a lot of variables:-nic level, cost of concentrates, getting in when some of the ingredients are on offer etc.
I use my own spreadsheet as I mix by weight. I toyed with the idea of adding a couple of columns to work out the cost but didn't bother. I'm happy with what it's costing.

Like most things the inital outlay is quite expensive, but most of the items are reuseable. After the initial outlay 100ml of premium liquid such as Red Astaire is approx 8 quid, or about 80p for 10ml as compared to bought around 4-5 quid, a significant saving! At the worst analysis it won't cost more than a couple of quid for 10ml of pretty much any liquid. bonnieboy

Well bonnieboy I did an approximate calculation a while back when I bought a litre of 7.5% nic base and a litre of VG from the USA which also included the shipping fees I paid which were quite high, along with taking into account that I normally use 20% flavouring in my mixes. As a rough estimate I came to the conclusion that 1 x 10ml of mix @ 18mg nic cost me around 1.25 euros A lot cheaper than buying ready-made liquid. And now I'm down to 9mg nic it will be even cheaper.

It depends on your purchase prices, as a rough estimate going off our own costs and assuming that we are buying say 500ml of nicotine as a starting point: Purchase Prices: Nicotine 500ml (72mg) - £35.50 VG (1 Litre) - £6.99 PG (1 Litre) - £9.99 Flavour Concentrate (30ml) - 5.49 Required Quantity for 12mg 50/50 20% Flavouring: Nicotine - 1.7ml = £0.1207 PG = 3.15 ml @ £0.031 VG = 3.15 ml @ £0.022 Flavouring = 2ml @ £0.366 Total cost for 10ml Liquid (rounded up): £0.54 Hope this helps

I have found places selling 500ml of 72mg nic Base for around £40 at 6mg that will make around 6L of juice... Thr most expensive juice I currently vape is £21 + postage per 30ml...So for the price of 5 bottles I could buy enough supplies to last me a good year or two. Its like anything if you find what you like and buy bulk you will save. Chefsvapor do 100ml of certain flavourings for £10 I think it is... And check out.. www.naturallythinking.com/products/100ml-Amber-Dropper-Bottle.htmlFor bottles 45p for a 100ml amber bottle and around 35p for a dripper cap and no MOQ

I just did a quick calculation of 30ml of CCW Butterscotch at 20% 50/50 at 12% nic which is my daily vape and it came to £1.88.
The nic base came out as the most expensive ingredient at that strength (£0.90), £0.47 for the flavouring.

What pushed my costs up was the shipping from the USA, can't remember now how much that was but I did do this when I saw the amount. I couldn't find anywhere in the UK that would ship over to me a litre of nic base

Thanks to all, just wondered. As I am just starting out I was not confident enough to buy the quantities that you are talking about but maybe some day once I find out if I can get the hang of it. It took me long enough to work out how to use the calculator in the mixing section but I think I've got that sussed now.Now having got a variety of concentrates I will have to look and see what the recommendations for mixing strengths are. Am hoping to get some peace and quiet on Saturday so that I can concentrate enough to have a go.
