Well that's ½ hour wasted trying to thread cotton back through the coil, the eyes just aren't working tonight. Try again tomorrow

whenever it's needed is the simple answer, juice, device, tank, etc are all variables, so there can't be a definitive answer

Pull the kanthal apart at the folded end so the wick will og through the loop formed and put the wick half way through this and pull the kanthal back through from the non folded end, it will pull the wick with it.

Push it through the coil. Insert end of cotton into the syringe and pull back through. Easy peasy.

I was having similar problems, now use bigger coils and lower gauge wire, building on a 3mm bar with 28g or less, plenty of room to thread the cotton/rayon through, and I don't have to change the wick over so much as well, here's my latest build on my new Reo dual coil 0.7ohm 8 wraps 3mm with rayon:

Great suggestions so far, I have been thinking that I need to build bigger diameter coils for that same reason. Might have to buy a bigger drill bit

Might have to buy a bigger drill bit Just use one of the small screws that hold your light switches or sockets on, think they're m3 screws so should be 3mm, plus they already have a spiral on them to guide the wire !

Haven't tried it myself, but other folk have had a lot of success threading wick into coils using the needle threaders you get in sewing kits. Push the threader through the coil, wrap the wick round the loop at the end of the threader and pull back. Voila!

Dont talk to me about HobbyCraft... it's my wifes pet bug that they haven't opened a shop near us, it was her favourite place when we lived in Sussex
