I see that the Cornish Ban is backed by "Crown Estates".
By far the biggest polluter of Scottish Beaches are plastic fertiliser bags that are clearly coming from farms. Perhaps Crown Estates will back a campaign to ban all farming in the UK, (aye right!!!) or is this just another scheme to ban something they don't like and to hell with those that do.
Why is it that groups with more money than sense are governed by such self centred morons.

What on earth do Crown Estates have to do with The Dutch of Cornwall?
At best this is a distraction from disgraces sewage outfall from S/W water (there are times when you really do not want to swim in the sea, although the days are long gone where you wouldn't swim in Marazion unless you were prepared to dodge brown floaters and their artificial accompaniments, waste from commercial vessels (including palm oil) and the myriad of plastic bits which plague our beaches.
It's not like it's enforceable, though. Not really. Bigger things like half buried `use once` BBQ's and nappies are a bigger problem from my understanding.

Crown Estates....Prince Charles. Dutchy of Cornwall..... Prince Charles. You do the Maths! Well now, there's the thing... Crown Estates != The Dutchy of Cornwall nor The Dutchy of Lancashire As both legal and commercial, they are distinct entities, serving different purposes. Of course, whilst the board managing Crown Estates may be talking to the management of The Duchy of Cornwall (which owns the non-private foreshore), including the Duke of Cornwall. However, I think I've realised where the link is: There's a fair amount of foreshore / beaches owned by The National Trust (Marazion, for instance). Now those guys do work hand in hand, and all that entails... Which rather encourages thoughts of blatant hypocrisy (Marazion and Long Rock is a beautiful shoreline renown for it's pollution up to, but not including, recent years).

Considering the amount we have to pay in water rates down here, it's disgusting that it took so long to get Mounts Bay beaches into a state where you actually feel able to swim. If I still smoked and wanted to sit on the beach and have a roll up then I blimmin well would! Yes, take your fag butts and put them in a bin, but no way should we be policed whilst chilling on the beach. It's outrageous!! When we were kids our parents didn't let us swim at Marazion, Long Rock etc due to the vast amount of floating nasties. We always got told "no, just play on the sand, it's only the holiday makers who are allowed in the sea"

The parental guidance I received was a little different.... "I'm going for a swim" "No" "Why not" "It's not safe... Remember when you did..." "Oh, Okay - but Mum, why are they swiming" "They are tourists"

So they will be banning all food, picnics, beer, soft drinks, ice cream in tubs, fishing boats (that lose lots of debris' flip flops, surf boards.....the plastic variety, bbq's, how about banning people?
FFS, why don't they all find real jobs to do and earn a living like the rest of us. Maybe a few more rubbish bins would help contain the rubbish?
Despair has set in with the rule makers of this world. While humans kill each other with impunity, they want to ban smoking.....on a beach........oh dear

Fast forward a year, guy is stood on a beach, smoking away. A zombie antz brain shouts "Put that outtt! You can't smoke on the beacccch!" Guy looks round at the loon, takes a few steps, carries on toking. "I told you to stopppp! You can't smoke on the beeeeaaaccchh!" Flipping the water with his toes, guy replies, "I'm not on the beach... I'm in the sea."

I always took a portable ashtray with a lid to the beach, the park, all public places really. I can totally understand people not wanting to sit in a pile of dog ends or have their children pick them up, but if you carry one of those little ashtrays what harm are you actually doing ?

You could always put the butts in one of the thousands of discarded hypodermic needles thats handed out free.On the beach I know which I would rather step on a dead cig butt or a needle
